The second heat of Eurovizijos Atranka 2019 was filmed on Wednesday. We now know the next 13 acts competing to represent Lithuania in Tel Aviv. The show will take place on January 19 but as is the Lithuanian tradition, we already know how the jury rated the acts of the second heat.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the next batch of Eurovision hopefuls.

Juna

Juna — also known as Justina Budaitė — is the winner of The Voice of Lithuania 2014 and her mentor was none other than Donny Montell himself. After a short break, Justina is back to try her luck at Eurovizijos Atranka with the song “Strength of A Woman”. Her song was written by G. Valickas-Echoes, Glenda Proby and Donny Montell. She already has Eurovision experience as a backing vocalist, lending her voice to Donny Montell’s 2016 entry “I’ve Been Waiting for This Night“. Having worked with big names, Juna has the team and support behind her to push for victory.

Edgaras Lubys

Light rock musician, vocalist and songwriter — Edgaras Lubys is the true Eurovizijos Atranka veteran and he is back for another shot. Edgaras is a big name in Lithuania and has been in the music industry for approximately twenty years. In fact, he first attempted to represent Lithuania way back in 2004. With five studio albums under his belt, he is a very experienced musician with plenty of support. This time, he will be performing “To the Sky” which was well received by the jury. Fifteen years on from his debut, is it finally Edgaras’ time to shine?

Paola Hart

Paola Hart — that’s Paulina Paulauskaitė — competed at Eurovizijos Atranka in 2017 as part of the group Varjetė but she is back as a solo artist. She rose to fame on The X-Factor Lithuania 2017, where she finished third and she now lives and works in Scotland. Paola’s entry “I’ll Be Alright” is self-written and is about longing for someone you can’t be with right now.

Tiramisu

As their name may suggest, Tiramisu is very unique and different with their style and songs. As such, they describe their musical style as expressive, bohemian and artsy. Tiramisu consists of three members — Martyna Rudelytė, Violeta Lisovaitė and Egidijus Lisovoj — and they will perform their self-written song “The Smell of Your Eyes”. Their performance is likely to be unique, creative and polarising, but will they garner enough support to win the ticket to Israel?

Original Copy

Original Copy is a vocal group made up of six young, experienced artists who specialise in pop and jazz music. One of the group members is Audrius Petrauskas, who already competed in the first heat but was eliminated in sixth place. Original Copy got their start on The X-Factor Lithuania and won a special prize in the international singing competition Baltic Voice 2015. Their song this year is called “Power of Sounds” and was written by band member Ieva Ščerbinskaitė.

In the previous years, Lithuania has weirdly enough always managed to give me something for my playlist that totally aligns with my personal taste and is strange, unique and catchy at the same time. 2017 “I’m Like a Wolf” and “Feel It”, 2018 “Butterfly” and “More Than You Know” and this year already “The Smell of Your Eyes”. Besides Aiste’s song, none of these even got close to winning the national final, but I have just grown to love the Lithuanian preselection so much, some of the stuff in there is straight up nuts and that’s exactly my type of… Read more »

agreed, the Lithuanian nf is unfairly treated. There are gems every year, just nobody cares enough to look for them.

Just waiting to hear Monika Marija belt “Criminal” live for the first time, it’s music video came out today and while I try to keep an open mind for any potential contenders in Lithuania’s marathon selection it does feel like Monika Marija is the one to beat so far…

It’s a nice song but I don’t want them to send two ballads in a row, I’m looking for something different. Haven’t heard their song but I’m definitely looking forward to Saul?s kliošas. They were my favourite in last year’s national final.

Eurovizijos atranka 2019 isn’t bad at all. Four heats, two semi-finals and the final. Sounds much more straightforward compared to previous years.

True but it’s still 48 songs and a lot of them are not of the quality that they needed to be televised.
Just saying, we appreciate your work. 😉
