It’s the national final that gave us “Love Injected” and the Riga Beaver.

And now Latvian broadcaster LTV has confirmed the dates and hosts for Supernova 2019.

Supernova returns to our screen on January 26, when the first eight acts will compete in Semi-Final 1. A second Semi-Final follows a week later on February 2, with the final set to air on February 16.

Dagmara Legante and Ketija Senberga to host Supernova 2019

Dagmara Legante returns as Supernova host for a second year in a row. She’s joined by Ketija Senberga, who hosted the first three “Supernovas” along with Toms Grevins. The news makes 2019 the first time Supernova has an all-female host lineup.

Eight participants will take part in each semi-final of the competition, but only four acts will advance from each semi-final to compete in the final.

On January 26 in first semi-final we will see:

Samanta Tina
Edgars Kreilis
Elza Rozentāle
Aivo Oskis
Alekss Silvers
Liga Ridere
Kris & Oz
Laime Pinīga

Then on February 16 these acts will take to the stage:

Adriana Miglane
Markus Riva
Dzili Violets feat. Kozmen
Laika Upe
Double Faced Eels
Kristiana Bumbiere
Kristīne Pastare
Carousel

Supernova and Eurovision success

Supernova 2019 will be the fifth edition of the show. In the first two years, Latvia made the final, with Aminata and Justs both acheiving respectable results. The past two years have however been less successful, with both Triana Park and Laura Rizzoto missing out on a spot in the Grand Final.

In our poll for your favourite competing act, Edgars Kreilis leads the field with his song “Fire” and 14% of all votes cast. He’s followed by Supernova veteran Markus Riva on 13% and Double Faced Eels in third with their song “Fire”.

Whatever happens on the Supernova stage, we know the acts will turn up the heat. Are you happy with the semi-final draw? Which one are you looking forward to most? Let us know in the comments below!

Kudos to them for not canceling their selection despite having zero great songs.

I’ll reccomend you to listen to their final versions.

Some of the final version of songs have been released and I’m satisfied with how they sounded now. They’re not really strong entries, but all is good to be listened to.

The team changed the title afterwards. It was ‘Fire’ before.
