With the news that Carlotta Truman and Laurita will compete as the duo Sisters in Germany’s national selection for Eurovision, the Unser Lied für Israel line-up is now complete. And during the show, while the seven competitors wait for the juries and the German audience to vote for their favourite, a series of interval acts will keep everyone entertained! What better way to pass the time?
Last year at Unser Lied für Lissabon, Mike Singer had the pleasure to fill the gap. But this year three acts will share the spotlight: Michael Schulte, Udo Lindenberg and Revolverheld.
Michael Schulte reached fourth place at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, delivering a mesmerizing performance of “You Let Me Walk Alone”. To keep the Eurovision spirit alive in its entirety, he is the perfect artist to perform once again during the German final. He’ll probably calm the nervous acts with his soothing aura too.
Revolverheld has a bit of Eurovision experience: its front man Johannes Strate took part in the German jury for the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2015. The band – which is mostly known for pop and rock music – has published five albums since 2005 and all of those albums reached the top 10 in the German album charts, with two of them even making the top 3 and going gold. Futhermore, Revolverheld has gained countless awards including the German Echo for best national group in rock or pop and the MTV Europe Music Award 2014.
And if that wasn’t enough, Revolverheld also took part in the German prequel of the Eurovision Song Contest, the Bundesvision Song Contest, where all 16 German states compete for the win. Revolverheld won the whole contest with “Lass uns gehen” (Let us go).
Udo Lindenberg is one of the biggest German artists at the moment. The mysterious looking man has felt the music since 1971 but his vast experience in the music business keeps taking him higher. He reached number 1 in the German album charts shortly before Christmas with his new album. In addition, he has nabbed gold records and reached the German top 10 multiple times.
With those three amazing artists, the German preselection is now very complete. The seven finalists are Gregor Hägele, Makeda, Aly Ryan, BB Thomaz, Linus Bruhn, lilly among clouds and Sisters, who will gather on 22 February in Berlin. Barbara Schöneberger and Linda Zervakis will co-host. Eurovision executive producer Jon Ola Sand will present the votes from the public, while the Eurovision Panel votes will be revealed by 2018 spokesperson Anke Giffhorn and a mystery male panelist. Anyone else hoping for David Hasselhoff?
Tickets are available for 39 euros.
