A few weeks ago Sheppard said they have the perfect Eurovision song. And now the indie-pop group have teased that song with a 15-second snippet that sounds, well, perfect. Judging from fan reaction, the snippet is definitely building positive hype as we all prepare for Eurovision – Australia Decides in February.

While most of Australia’s other national final songs have already been revealed, Sheppard are making us wait until February 1. That’s ten days from now! Thankfully their snippet is here to help us pass the time…and it comes with their signature anthemic feel.

In the snippet we hear a choir of voices singing two variations of the lyrics “I’m on my way, on my way”. Visually the sound comes with two people kissing each other — in silhouette form — among brightly coloured clouds and plumes of smoke. In the second variation they appear in a big “10”, which is as colourful as the cloud. The snippet features a deep bass sound — a proper boom. Set against the choral voices, it’s very powerful. You can already pre-order the song on iTunes.

Kate Miller-Heidke’s “Zero Gravity”

But Sheppard isn’t the only act flagging their release among Eurovision fans. Multi-platinum selling and award-winning singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke has shared a snippet of her Eurovision song as well.

“Zero Gravity” will be available on 25 January via her Instagram and Twitter. That’s in three days!

There’s not much to hear as the snippet only teases an instrumental, where one can hear violin and xylo harmonies in three guises. But we can definitely say it’s teasing some drama.

Australia’s finalists for Eurovision 2019 are Sheppard, Aydan, Mark Vincent, Electric Fields, Leea Nanos, Courtney Act, Kate Miller-Heidke, Alfie Arcuri, Ella Hooper and Tania Doko. Australia Decides will be presented at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 February.

Though I want Electric Fields to win, I’m still on board with other options to get behind.

I LOVE Sheppard! I’m sure they’re song is great!

I wish with all my heart they will can going to Israel. In addition, it make a long time since a band win the grand final (it wasn’t Lordi the last time?); it could be this year. 🙂

Kate Miller-Heidke is great. I am most excited for her, I hope her song doesn’t disappoint and that she wins!

On a side-note: the first jury 12’s from the Czech selection are out. Wisely, they’re getting people from last year (so far) to vote: Cesar Sampson and Rasmussen are the first two and they both gave their 12’s to Barbara Machovka. It’s a good song, for sure. I think Elina Nechayeva might be voting as well since she posted on Insta about voting in a national final.

The international jury clearly helped a lot for the Czechs last year, and their voter choices were all varied but all had strong songs behind them (I remember Dami Im, Jalisse, Liora, and Nathan Trent were some of them, and I find them trustworthy about good Eurovision songs).

I just checked: their international jury was half competitors from the year before (Naviband, Norma John, Nathan Trent, Robin Bengtsson, and SunStroke Project) and half from other years (Iveta Mukuychan, Sanja Vucic, Dami Im, Jalisse, and Liora). All different styles, all different countries, and at least six of them finished top ten. I hope it’s similar this year.

The snippets sound promising, but that doesn’t mean much – I didn’t like the snippet of 2000 and Whatever, but I like the full song.
Also the Kate Miller-Heidke’s snippet kinda sounds like the song K2 from The Miracle Planet ost. Does anyone else know that…? Just me…?

To me it’s kinda like Ezra’s “Shotgun” beginning.

The snippets sound promising. They have both good chances to win Australia Decides, maybe even Eurovision.

Not sure about the snippet. Too short to say something about it. I hope they win in Australia, I’m a big fan of them and I know that here in the NL they have a pretty big fanbase. If their song is similar to Coming Home, they can win in Tel Aviv as well.
