While France and Malta selected their acts last night for Eurovision 2019, Latvia got started with the first semi-final of Supernova 2019. Four of the eight competing acts — Laime Pilnīga, Edgars Kreilis, Aivo Oskis and Samanta Tīna — qualified for the grand final on 16 February.
The qualifiers were decided by a combination of televote and a jury made up of music experts DJ Rudd, Linda Leen, Ralfs Eilands and Artis Dvarionas.
At this stage, scores have not been made public. All Supernova has revealed is who the four qualifiers are.

Sadly missing out on the next stage were Kris & Oz with “Midnight Streets”, Alekss Silvērs with “Fireworks”, Līga Rīdere with “Būšu tepat” and Elza Rozentāle with “You Came on Tiptoe”.
Last night’s four qualifiers will go on to compete in the grand final of Supernova 2019 on 16 February. There will will be joined by the four qualifiers from semi-final two, due to take place next Saturday.

I think that Samantha will cross the finish line first. Although she’s the only female artist left, she’s clearly capable of winning. Now what about the beaver?

Edgars Kreilis must win. When you look at his performance, you get an aesthetic pleasure …
I finally found something I find amusing in this year’s Supernova. But they were Kris & Oz and they’re already gone! Anyway, Edgars and Samanta did a fine job. I just think his song needs a new ending.
That contouring on Edgars’ face O.o
He was clearly the best tonight though. He improved a LOT since the audition and I really hope he’ll go to Tel-Aviv 🙂

At least Latvia is going to have a decent final. Edgars Kreilis’ staging really lifted up the song, much better know. I dindn’t pay much attention to “Awe” at first, but he has really captivated me. Samanta Tina really made her song come to live, but it still feels not enough, the song is just average.
For now, I would go for Edgars Kreilis’ “Cherry Absinthe”. Let’s see next week.
Edgars was the ONLY good qualifier. Literally, the four songs that failed to qualify were better than the three that did.
Alekss Silvers, in particular, was unexpectedly amazing.
Laime pilniga is by far the most Eurovision-ready piece in this semi-final. They got vocals, they got a song, they only miss a bit of staging and camer-ing. Their song has that peaceful sound.
Samanta Tina was the second artists with the most potential with daring, showing and well-sung vocals.

They really should choose Edgars, with a sexy and mysterious staging, it could be good.
Edgars made me feel every bit of that fire! I hope he wins! Samanta took some advice in correct pronunciation and it paid off. Still not a fan of the song, but she deservingly qualified. Aivo was good on stage, while the song is still mediocre. How did Latvia passed on Liga (and even Kris & Oz) to vote for Awe is beyond me. Anyway, Edgars all the way!!! With him, Latvia has a chance of a good result.
Latvia pretty much chose the best of the night, Edgars has this in the bad imo. Samanta is the biggest grower from the show.
