Tonight, the first semi-final of Romania’s Selectia Nationala took place. And with eleven acts battling for the six final spots, the drama and tension was high.
While they all wanted to bring their songs to the grand final, only six will have the chance to do so. And they are…

That means the eliminated acts are: Berniceya, Ommieh and Anakrisez, Nicola, Steam and The Four
Guest performer Iuliana Beregoi from Moldova reminded us that Loreen’s “Euphoria” is a timeless hit.
Five entries qualified from the jury vote made up of Adi Cristecsu, Mihai Georgescu, Crina Mardare, Andy Platon and Mugurel Vrabete. Trooper, Teodora Dinu, Dya and Lucian Coloreza, Claudiu Mirea and Bella Santigo reached the top five of the jury voting.
It was then up to the public to decide on which act would join them in the grand final. The televote handed the last spot in the final to Vaida.

I feel really sorry for “The Way It Goes”, it was my absolute favourite. I am more than sure the international jury would have liked it. Maybe Romanian jury felt the danger coming from this song for TVR favourites and decided to get rid of it in such way..

I think you’re the only one hearing that. And I doubt that Trooper were studying MGP songs. They are doing their music, in a pretty classic Romanian rock way.
If Bella does win, I hope they make certain changes to the song and to the actual performance itself. They need to distance themselves as much as possible from Cyprus 2018 for them to have a chance of winning. Otherwise, a lot would just see this as a Fuego 2.0 (if they haven’t already).
What you guys don’t understand about all of these shows that 90% of the viewers/voters listen to the songs for the first time during the live shows. So they assess each performance based on the staging, vocal performance and the song ofc. The Four had a good song, but the live performance was one of the worst. It was obvious that they wouldn’t make it. It’s Florina all over again. xD

If Laura wanted to be in second semifinal, because she had other commitments (and it looks like she did it in the last moment, because otherwise would not be 11 acts in semi 1, and 13 acts in semi 2), I wonder if she is ready for Eurovision. Will she have time for pre parties?

Whaaat? Lol I don’t think so. Not a lot of Filipinos actually go GAGA over her. Eurovision is nonexistent here in the Philippines. If she manages to win SN, then that’s great and if not, well, not a lot of Filipinos would care anyways.

Bella Santiago’s entry is just Cyprus 2018 with male dancers. She is a good performer, but the whole act seems ridiculously familiar.

I absolutely hate when songs basically sacrifice a chorus and just put a silly dance beat between verses. I didn’t like “Fuego” either tbh.

No, Laura Bretan is in the 2nd because she said she had other commitments, and I think TVR agreed, they didn’t want two fan favorites in the same semifinal (Bella and Laura). Even if that means the semifinals became unballanced (11 acts in the first one, 13 acts in the 2nd one)
I’m probably going O.C. on this but is it difficult to have one of the semi 2 finalists be moved to the other in Laura’s place so it would still be a 12-12 ratio?
Relax, Laura will win anyway, there is no real competition for her this year, tbh.
