If you want to succeed at Melfest, it helps to be a Grammy-winner. Or at least that’s what tonight’s Melodifestivalklubben audience exit poll seems to suggest.
The fan club polls the audience as they’re leaving the arena following Friday evening’s dress rehearsal. It’s proven to be a pretty handy guide to who could be in line to advance in the actual result.
Tonight, the majority of the audience rowed behind Mohombi with “Hello”. He picked up 161 votes. That’s 24.9% of all votes cast.
She’s singing in the rain. And she left tonight’s audience thirsty for more. Wiktoria picked up 120 votes (18.5%) with her ballad “Not With Me”.
Just one vote and 0.1% behind, it’s Melodifestivalen 2017 televote winner Nano with “Chasing Rivers”. This evening’s crowd think he’s going to Andra Chansen.
The fan vote also places Melfest 2010 winner Anna Bergendahl in the second-chance round. “Ashes To Ashes” got 88 votes (13.6%).
According to the poll, Zeana feat. Anis Dom Demina, High 15 and Arja Saijonmaa will all be eliminated.

Of course, with such a small sample size, there’s no way of telling if this audience poll will play out correctly.
Last year, for instance, it wrongly predicted that Edward Blom would qualify from semi-1 ahead of Renaida. In both the third and fourth semi-finals, it only got one prediction right — Martin Almgren and Mariette for the final, respectively. It infamously placed FELIX SANDMAN second-to-last in his heat. Of course, he went on to finish runner-up to Benjamin Ingrosso while also spending several weeks atop the Swedish charts.
Nonetheless — it’s a spot of fun and has proven generally correct in the past.

Prediction Final Nano- Opening and really speaks to me. Anna Bergendahl- Ambient song closing, it’s almost like she robbed this song off Wiktoria. Staging is memorable. Andra Chansen Zeana ft. Anis Dom Demina- They’re stealing the thunder in the middle section and might get Sweden dancing. They’re new to this competition so they might not go straight to the final. I’m really curious what this new voting system that is bananas will bring. Song number 1 and 7 are the obvious choices for me, as the others do not speak to me at all.
As long as Nano and Wiktoria get into the top 4, I’m happy!

Personally I hope Wiktoria goes to the final directly. Mohombi I’m pleasantly surprised by that result but I’d be happy seeing him go directly to the finals as well. Anna and Nano I predict will go to AC… however I could see Zeana & Anis pulling a surprise AC qualification as well. To be honest I’m hesitant to make any firm predictions because I’m more curious about how the new voting system will work out. It reminds me so much of Amy McDonald!
Finally, my personal “andra chansen” would be both Nano and Wiktoria. Good songs but they kind of lost their “freshness” in Mello, from my point of view.

Luckily the app voting has been changed and restructured to eight different age groups giving their votes, so the voting won’t be dragged down by teenage voters anymore…
It’s a good first semi, but Ireally hope this years Mello has more to offer in the other semi’s.

Considering what happened to Dotter last year, nothing would surprise me. I hope she goes through however.
Wow don’t even remind me of Dotter. That’s one of the worst crimes in recent Melodifestivalen history. Couldn’t believe in my eyes.
I’m not surprised about Mohombi. He seems to be a very likeable guy and good on stage. He has improved since the first rehearsal. And the song “Hello” gets stuck in your head.
Wiktoria really sells her song and is pretty awesome on stage, so no surprises there either.
Nano’s song seems great. But Nano is not so good on stage at times. He needs to connect with the viewers and the audience more.
And Anna.. maybe the song is not for everyone. And her new style and confidence perhaps came as shock. But I think she looks fantastic.
