On Saturday Latvia’s Supernova decided on the final four acts to qualify for the final, which takes place on 16 February. And this morning LTV took those names, added them with the qualifiers from the first semi, and announced the precise running order of the grand final.

Supernova stalwart Markus Riva will have viewers at the TV and ready to watch on time: The X Factor host has the honour of opening the show. Laime Pilnīga — the winners of the first show — will perform in 6th position, while Carousel — the winners of the second semi — perform last.

And it’s bad news for fans of Adriana Miglāne and other eliminated favourites. Producers have announced that they will not award a wildcard this year, despite the fact they reserved the option to do so on Saturday evening.

As producers wave them goodbye, we wish them the best of luck next year.

“Supernova 2019” running order

  1. Markus Riva – You Make Me So Crazy
  2. Edgars Kreilis – Cherry Absinthe
  3. Aivo Oskis – Somebody’s Got My Lover
  4. “Double Faced Eels” – Fire
  5. “Dziļi violets feat. Kozmens” – Tautasdziesma
  6. “Laime pilnīga” – Awe
  7. Samanta Tīna – Cutting the Wire
  8. “Carousel” – That Night

Latvia will choose their ESC song on 16 February. It’s the fifth time it will be chosen via the “Supernova” contest. Last year Latvia didn’t make it through to the finals with Laura Rizzoto’s “Funny Girl”

I have a feeling that Tautasdziesma will win, but wow what a dreadful final. No matter what they’ll choose they better pray for a miracle if they want to qualify.

Quite a weird move to put Markus, Edgars and Aivo back to back. Björkman won’t be able to sleep if he sees it!

Carousel has the biggest potential, but I cannot decide, whether it’s going to stand out or be overshadowed by others. Would they create a sensual world on stage, or leave it plain and not remarkable? Would they be the only “calm” song in the semi (Finland 2017)? What running order would they get (2nd would be quite possible)? Anyway, I wish Latvia the best and we’ll see.

Nothing was worthy for a wildcard anyway.
It seems that they want Carousel to win, and I can’t blame them since it’s the only act where I can see a glimpse of qualification.

Edgars second? Death spot? Tbh, I am a bit scared… But Carousel are also good, I woudn’t mind seeing them winning…

Its That Night or Cherry Absinthe For me, i couldn’t care less about the others, but Carousel and Edgars are both very good, but the Running order severely cut Edgars’ chances.

If he can’t beat his opponents in a field of only 8 songs, then he is not a contender. Running order is irrelevant here.

Sure, but it’s not like performing 2nd does him Any benefits. Performing 8th would have been better, and I think that he isn’t that clear of a winner, he could use all the help he can get.

Not good first three male pop singers, with similar kind of songs. They will suffer because of this.

I’d like to see Cherry Absinthe or Fire winning… I can’t connect with the rest at all…

I mean, if there’s a year where Latvia might as well give in and send Markus Riva, it’s probably this one. Musically, there is literally nothing to gain from this selection and at least he’s fun to look at and might stop trying if finally chosen.

Hadn’t listened to any Supernova songs this year until now, after being warned off. For me this isn’t an impressive mix, so that was probably appropriate. I don’t see any of them as probable qualifiers, but of the bunch the one I’d most like to be on the Eurovision 2019 CD is probably… Fire.

Carousel is miles away better than any songs in this selection, it’s giving me Netherlands 2014 vibes

To be honest, I used to dislike every single Markus’ song. But he did great job performing this one and really stood out in my opinion, so I’m rooting for Markus this year. But I like carousel and edgars as well.

What about Denmark this year?

Denmark has one tiny ray of light called “Love is Forever”. It’s kind of the Danish way. In a really awful selection, they manage to choose the one song that is incredibly simple yet charming enough to get them a good result.

I think Denmark has a very good selection this year. 🙂

You can listen to the Danish songs without getting bored. With Latvia, you’re found sleeping halfway through the first song.

A great order.

3 strong songs in this final:
Carousel, Laime Pilniga and Samanta Tina. Good luck to either of them. Having said that, we all secretly know who will win out of the trio!

tbh anyone could still win. I don’t think the semi final winners reflect the final result.

Fire and Cherry Absinthe are the only two good songs here, so I hope Latvia does the right thing and pick one of them.

Carousel is their only hope for the final in my opinion. Because all the others would stand no chance with Eurovision jury and I don’t see any of them doing very well with televoting either. So, Latvia choose wisely.

I’m afraid performing after Samanta Tina can lessen Carousel’s chances, unless they’re a popular vote. Things are also not looking good for Aivo, Markus and Edgars since the three dancebeat boys will be stacked in the first half and possibly cancel each other.

Another interesting notion: ‘You Make Me So Crazy’, ‘Cherry Absinthe’ and ‘Somebody’s Got My Lover’ were all going to be sung in A sharp minor (A#m) so this is going to be DANGEROUS.
