Over the past two weeks, eight acts have qualified for the final of Supernova 2019.

And on February 16 in the final of Latvia’s national final we’ll find out which act will succeed Laura Rizzotto.

Every act in the competition wants to go to Israel, but at the close of voting only one act will win the ticket to Tel Aviv.

But before Latvia decides, we want to know what you think.

Is semi-final one winner Laime Pilnīga taking the crown? Or could it be Carousel’s turn? Do we need to pay close attention to returnees Samanta Tīna and Markus Riva?

We’re definitely ready for a tense national final…so why don’t you just go ahead and check out all the songs and then vote in our poll!

Supernova 2019: Grand Final

The grand final includes Aivo Oskis, Carousel, Double Faced Eels, Dziļi Violets feat. Kozmens, Edgars Kreilis, Laime Pilnīga, Markus Riva and Samanta Tīna.

Below you can listen to all of their clips and then vote in our poll for your favourite. You can vote for as many songs as you’d like, but you can only vote one time. Be sure to click next to the acts you would like to see in Tel Aviv before pressing submit.

Aivo Oskis – “Somebody’s Got My Lover”

Carousel – “That Night”

Double Faced Eels – “Fire”

Dziļi Violets feat. Kozmens – “Tautasdziesma”

Edgars Kreilis – “Cherry Absinthe”

Laime Pilnīga – “Awe”

Markus Riva – “You Make Me So Crazy”

Samanta Tīna – “Cutting The Wire”

Who should win the grand final of Supernova 2019?

[polldaddy poll=10229736]

The winner of Supernova 2019 will compete in the first half of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2019. That’s the same semi final Laura Rizzotto performed in last year. Unfortunately for her, the semi-final is where she stayed, finishing in twelth place. Supernova 2019’s winner will hope to improve on that performance.

I’d say Carousel, Double Faced Eels, Samanta Tina and Markus Riva should be the top 4, with one of the winning, of course.

The problem I have with Cherry Absinthe, it sounds almost the same as his previous song Younger Days from a year or two ago. I think it may be Markus Rivas’ year as long as he can keep singing on key. (Although I preferred Dynamite from 2016 better)

A very weak final. I would actually like to see Samanta in Tel Aviv, if she makes a show it could really work. Carousel is the best song obviously, but I just don’t see them qualifying in ESC. In fact I don’t think any of them has chances to qualify. Why is Cherry Absinthe so popular now with fans? I would prefer Aivo.

My winner would be Carousel and my alternate would be Double Faced Eels.

My favourite is Awe, but I recognise it shouldn’t win.

Is it the same guitar player at Carousel and Laime Pilniga? I mean the gay with long hair?
My favs are Carousel, Laime Pilniga and Samanta Tina.

Supernova’s potential aren’t that weak, IMO. Their line-up might be weaker than Atranka or Laul, but strong performances sold the songs better than the other two selection. My current pick would be Carousel and Edgars, but Sam and Markus can be dark horses.

I think carousel has the best potential here. With the right staging, it could be a “calm after the storm” entry. The other songs are all too basic to qualify IMO.

I find these songs much more creative and memorable compared to Eesti Laul . I actually think they will do well.

I’m really surprised Grete Paia didn’t make it to the final. It’s on my 2019 playlist and I’ll still be listening to it. I think the Estonian language sounds so nice in the song.

Well, since from my top 3 favourites there’s only Markus Riva left, other 2 songs got eliminated, so… um… Go, Markus!

In what world Edgars Kreilis would reach Top 15 in Eurovision please? The jury wouldn’t even let it pass the semifinals.

Mmm….
How about Madara comes back with Esam?ba and finally (and deservedly) wins?
But from these, only Edgars or Carousel. I won’t accept anything else, since good and deserved finalists have been left at the semis (looking at you Adriana and Kris & Oz) .

Was literally about to post the same thing re: “Esam?ba.” This year at Supernova is sadly a mess.

So was last year’s selection, and they still didn’t pick Esamiba.

One thing i have to give Supernova 2019. There is a lot of diversity.
I would go with Carousel, but i won’t add any of these songs to my personal playlist.

I’ve watched/listened to them all. Two clear favourites for me: Double Faced Eels – Fire Laime Pilniga – Awe I think both of these will take Latvia back to the Grand Final. Sadly, I think it’s more likely that Markus Riva or Edgars Kreilis will be selected. I find both of their songs underwhelming and derivative. I found the dancers more interesting during Markus Riva’s performance. A song about the effects of cherry absinthe does nothing for me; Edgars seems really nice and has a decent enough voice but he’s served poorly by the song and staging. Alternatively, I would… Read more »

1. Carousel
2. Edgars Kreilis
3. Double Faced Eels
4. Markus Riva
5. Samanta Tina

But I think that ONLY Carousel would have a chance to qualify in May. Anyway it’ll be a tough year for Baltics.

Not necessarily. Just a tough year for Latvia. If Estonia picks Sandra or Stefan, and if Lithuania picks Monika Marija, they are already good as qualified.

I love Carousel! I think it would really stand out in Tel Aviv. Latvia need to send something like this if they hope to have any chance of reaching the final. Their performance was a very mesmerizing 3 minutes for me personally.

Latvia is an interesting Eurovision case. A small country, but it usually has possibly the most diverse song proposal of most countries. To be fair, I thought this has been a remarkably weak selection for Latvia this year. Then came the semis with videos. Now, I have 3 songs that I can see doing rather well: *Carousel – That Song (has the best chances to reach the final and possibly be in Top 15); *Laime Pilniga and *Samanta Tina – very different tracks, but they would be songs that a country of 2 million should be proud of when they… Read more »
