It’s the long-running Italian song contest that entered its 69th year on Tuesday. And it’s almost time for Italy to crown its next Sanremo champion.

While the winner of Sanremo isn’t guaranteed to be Italy’s next Eurovision representative, we still want to know who you think should follow in Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro‘s footsteps.

Now that you’ve heard the songs more than once and seen the initial rankings from the demoscopic poll on Tuesday and press jury on Wednesday and Thursday, what’s your opinion about the songs?

Y’all have a total of 24 acts to choose from! You can click on the song titles below to hear each song, and then vote in our poll below. As usual, you can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote once.

This will be a flash poll, as we’ll close it early on Saturday afternoon just in time for the grand-final — so make sure to get your votes in as soon as possible.

In addition, make sure you comment down below with all your thoughts on this year’s acts!

Why only female singers get flowers after they finish singing? Male singers get nothing!!

Male singers perform as much as female singers, therefore they should get also flowers too or some kind of recognition that is not just ‘Gazzie’.

Giving flowers to female singers only is seeing as being ‘Sexiest’. Males also like flowers.

Mahmood is like the Italian equivalent of Rosalía, so modern and perfect

I voted for Il Volo. They have the best song and their voices are amazing. They are phenomenal! Much love from Serbia!

Il Volo! I, as an American, am so impressed with their talent. It is so far & above the talents of the other performers this year! Their pitch, their harmony, their composure & professional demeanor cannot be surpassed. Americans are infatuated with rap “singing” so to me Il Volo is absolutely a fresh air. And then there is the beautiful Italian language. Surely, surely, surely Il Volo will win the SanRemo 2019! How can they not?

I agree with you. Il Volo is FAR and ABOVE all the other performers. I too am American from Southern California so I’ve had much exposure to rap. Wonder what Tupac would have to say about Italian rap? It just doesn’t work for me. Give me the polished, practiced, musically educated, gifted IL VOLO for the WIN!! They deserve it. They are also polling in the #1 position.

What was up with all the whispering? Start a song: whisper singing. After about five like that I started auto-disqualifying them instead of waiting to see if it would build to anything that would lead me to forgive the start. No one is allowed to whisper for the rest of Eurovision or I will lose my mind.

I don’t know what’s up with all the whispering either, but it isn’t music. It’s trendy, but when you hear Il Volo sing there is no comparison. I voted for Il Volo for the win!!

The more I listen to them, the more I’m convinced that Irama would be the best choice for Eurovision!

Unpopular opinion but I really enjoy Il Volo’s song. In some aspects I prefer it over Grande Amore. But Ultimo is also growing on me a bit. Regardless I’m a diehard fan for Il Volo so best of luck guys. 12 points from me. Italy and Australia are the decisions I’m most excited for.

I’m very surprised Ghemon isn’t higher in the ratings. I love Rose Viola but maybe its not ‘italian’ enough for the voters. I think it would really appeal to an international audience but guess it’s not going to happen!

For me it has to be Il volo or Mahmood.

1) Simone Christicchi (masterpiece)
2) Loredana (force of nature)
3) Ultimo (passionate)
4) Irama (emotional)
5) Il Volo (memorable)
6) Paola Turci (romantic)

This is my top6 and they are all gems 🙂

Daniele Silvestri (feat. Rancore) all the way.
This song is a real masterpiece. It truly stands out with it’s originality and dark atmosphere that really hooks you from the start. Also the rapper in the second half of the song really has a delivery that’s out of this world.

My top 5:

1. Ultimo – “I tuoi particolari“

3. Nek – “Mi farò trovare pronto“
4. Mahmood – “Soldi“
5. The Zen Circus – “L’amore è una dittatura“

I would be happy with any of them winning!

There are other songs that I like and wouldn’t mind if they win, but I would go with Irama or Mahmood. And I’m not even a rap fan!

The best Sanremo I’ve seen in my life in terms of The quality of the songs. I am mostly rooting for Ultimo to win it’s an amazing songs. I also love the following ones (in no particular order):
Loredana Berte
Il Volo
Simone Cristicchi
Paola Turci
Motta
Nek
Enrico Nigiotti
Federica Carta e Shade
Ghemon
Ex-Otago.
I actually like almost all the songs

Very good songs this year. I mean… San Remo always has quality, but 2019 is even better. A lot more diversity. It’s nice to see that the songs are not as elitist as usual. I am surprised that Loredana is among my favorites! I never understood why these old singers with long time gone voices (her voice is very out of pitch) insist participating in a music festival. This time i have to open an exception for her. Her performance was actually very good. I also like Arisa a lot. It’s just a shame that her stage presence is far… Read more »

Not sure why but I want Rolls Royce to win. Il Volo are overhyped, that song is not even close to as good as Grande Amore and I am not sharing the hype of Sanremo this year..

Loredana is a GODDESS and I think her song is structurally one of the best we’ve seen this NF season. I’m rooting for her.

Irama’s song is in second for me. It has a nice tender quality.

I’d love to see Il Volo return to Eurovision but their San Remo song is a complete snooze.

Only one of my favourites, Mahmood, seems to have a shot at winning. I’d also be okay with Motta or Einar but that seems a bit far-fetched as it stands. And I still like Ghemon and Ex-Otago, although I think the others would be a better choice for Eurovision. Also a good choice, although not really my favourite, would be Loredana Bertè. I can hear what people could like about this. I didn’t like Il Volo whenever they were on, and I still don’t like them now, it’s the kind of music my mother would perhaps listen to, so possibly… Read more »

I’m leaning towards either Irama, Einar, and Mahmood. Il Volo’s entry is lacking that wow factor that “Grande Amore” once had, it’s not as hair-raisingly haunting as I would have liked.

My top favs are The Zen Circus, Daniele Silvestri (don’t know who I prefer between the two), and Mahmood, who might be the most fitting for Eurovision. But I like pretty much everyone this year <3

Ultimo is so overrated…

Why Il Volo’s winning the poll? They don’t have a very good song, it’s very basic. My favorites are Simone Cristicchi, Ultimo, Daniele Silvestri and Irama.

In my opinion…

Who should win Sanremo? Simone.
Who should go to Eurovision? Ultimo.

There’s a lot of video reaction about everything, except Sanremo which is fully ignore. Please, we want to know your opinions!

Robyn Gallagher
Editor

We’d love to be able to do an Italy reaction video, but it’s not possible given the very short timeframe. 24 songs that were only heard for the first time on Tuesday. Filming and editing a video takes time and we couldn’t really do it justice if we rushed it. But we do have a Wiwi Jury coming for Sanremo – watch out for that tomorrow! 🙂

Renske ten Veen
Editor

… and our Sanremo Wiwi Jury will show a wide range of opinions. 😉

So many amazing songs. I just can’t do it!
I can’t choose one!
Also bear in mind that whoever wins San Remo is not necessarily the act that will go to Eurovision – these are two separate decisions in Italy.
