The final of Lithuania’s Eurovizijos atranka 2019 is almost upon us, but we start with this weekend’s first of two live semi-finals. And after winning last week’s heat, Monika Marija competed in the first semi-final with “Light On” alongside 11 other acts.

And once again, Monika made it another clean sweep and won tonight’s first semi-final. Only four acts can advance to the final in two weeks time on February 23. Jurgis Brūzga confirmed his place alongside Junà and Henry & Tommy Modric.

We were also treated to two interval acts from Lithuania’s Eurovision 2015 singer Monika Linkytė with her latest single “Ant Pasaulio Krašto” and last year’s finalist Paula with “Body Talk”.

First semi-final running order

Emilija Gogolytė – “Riddle”

Henry & Tommy Modric – “Neverpart”

Saulės kliošas – “Laiko mašina”

Edgaras Lubys – “To the Sky”

Glossarium – “Anyone”

Twosome – “1000”

Lukas Bartaška – “River of Hope”

If it was up to me I would have chosen Monika Marija, Migloko, Henry & Tommy and Juna to go to the final. Jurgis Bruzga didn’t really deserve a spot in it as his song was nothing more than just cheesy and unsuccessfull attempt at looking/sounding Swedish and current. This year his performance just wasn’t that good. Migloko, on other hand, sounded really good and performance was interesting. Although I understand that her outfit may not have been everyone’s cup of tea, but it suited the lyrics (and they were really meaningfull and good). I believe she should have gotten… Read more »

I find CTRL ALT DELETE more interesting than Light on or Criminal. They should win this heat.

Downvote me all you want but in my opinion Light On is a really bland song. Criminal has way more potential. Also, Light On only won that poll from few days ago because it also won the heat it was in (Criminal ended up 2nd, 3rd in televote) and we all know that Eurovision fans are huge bandwagoners. Light On is cute but who’s gonna vote for it? It reminds me of Denmark 2017 in a way

I feel quite the opposite actually! I find criminal really boring and that it drags on. Light On (although not my favourite song in Lithuania) keeps me much more interested.

Both are generic pop but Criminal gives me more emotional touch thay I can relate to.

We should talk about Edgaras Lubys. He won his heat and now stranded in the semis in 7th place. What happened?

Heats were crap. Welcome to semi-finals. Where bloodbath happens.

I suppose not a lot of people liked his song and it looked sort of bland because he was the only one singing it.. add that to the fact that only 4 songs out of 12 qualify, bloodbath, exactly.

Sadly, the same way Br?zga got 5 from jury in the heat, but 10 in the semi-final just because it looked “better”, yet the song was still bland and mediocre

I seem to be in the minority here, but “Light On” keeps reminding me of “Stay With Me” all the time. And of course that one owed credit to Tom Petty already – the point being that relying on the same old simple chords again & again shouldn’t get you anywhere in eurovision, but as of now it seems it absolutely does … 😐

Juries aren’t exactly in line with the televoters here, are they?
Monika should win. I guess the only problem may be that, with two of her songs likely in the final, she might split the televote?

She might be asked to choose only one, though, especially if she won both semis–because that would be dangerous.

Good idea. Would they offer a wildcard to make up for the loss of a song in the final though?

Might be it, still fits the consensus of 8 finalists.

I can only imagine that it’s troll voters. If however “Neverpart” and “CTRL ALT DELETE” are unironically something the Lithuanian tv viewers would want to see in the final, I seriously have to do some research on which drugs are sold there.

Monika qualify, and it’s what really matters, the other IDC, light on to Eurovision ?

Monika Marija is not surprising. But those “funny” guys… literally WTF? Why? How? There were so many great acts that could’ve taken that ticket instead of them. They don’t even sing, they just talk.

How horrible that a joke act and a pathetic Swedish boy wannabe qualified instead of modern songs by Migloko and Saules Kliosas.

Migloko was boring. Saul?s kliošas deserved to be in the final but let’s be honest, they had much better song last year.

Is it bad that I actually liked it?
Shouldn’t the real outrage be that Jurgis Bruzga got through with that song?

Henry & Tommy have me confused – It’s so short, static and repetitive, accompanied by their very strange demeanor (timid/flirty/bored). Jurgis (again) tries to be cool and edgy and comes off as unintentionally funny.

Not at all, Brie, I found it funny and amusing. I guess because I love cheap jokes.

I liked this one. Way more fitting for her, and more professional looking. Overall she was just stunning.
