The dust is beginning to settle following this season’s first Super Saturday and an eventful Sunday. Over two days, the amount of confirmed Eurovision 2019 rose from eight to 13 as Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia and Romania all selected their songs for Tel Aviv.
But who is your favourite Eurovision 2019 act so far? Is Italy’s Mahmood set for another week atop the poll? Or could the newcomers shake things up?
It’s time to vote!
You can listen to all five new entries below. Then vote in our poll. Choose wisely, you can only vote ONE time. Voting ends early on Thursday, 21 February — just ahead of selections in Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Ukraine and Denmark.
We will then relaunch the poll to include the five winners, along with any other entries which may drop in the interim.
Croatia: Roko with “The Dream”
They went internal for close to a decade. But on Saturday night Croatia returned to its Dora selection method for the first time since 2011. From a field of 16, Roko Blažević emerged victorious. Bedecked in white and sporting a pair of angel wings, “The Dream” crooner topped both the jury and televote. With a songwriting team that includes Jacques Houdek (Croatia 2017) and Charlie Mason (“Rise Like A Phoenix”), can he soar to new heights in Tel Aviv?
Estonia: Victor Crone with “Storm”
It’s the Baltic nation with a Nordic inclination. And this weekend Estonia decided to send a Swede to Eurovision for the third time. Despite finishing a distant ninth with the juries Victor Crone stormed the public vote. “Storm” won out in the televote only super-final. Can he emulate the 2002 success of his compatriot Sahlene?
Latvia: Carousel with “That Night”
This year was the fifth edition of Latvia’s Supernova. Feeling old yet? Despite a strong showing from Markus Riva, the only person to compete in all five seasons, Carousel took the crown with “That Night”. Can the duo take Latvia back round to the final after a two-year absence?
Slovenia: Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl with “Sebi”
It ran a multi-night selection for the past-two years, but Slovenia returned to its traditional one-shot final format for EMA 2019. Ten acts competed for the juries, but only two proceeded to the televote decider. Perennial favourite Raiven (second 2016 and third 2017) appeared to be enroute to a long-awaited coronation, but it wasn’t to be. In a surprise twist, Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl dominated the televote with “Sebi”. Can we expect another upset from them in May?
Romania: Ester Peony with “On A Sunday”
In 2018, it missed out on the Eurovision final completely after selecting an act chosen entirely by televoters. This year, Romania went from one extreme to the other by giving most of the power to the jury. Like Feli and many more before them, pre-contest favourites Laura Bretan and Bella Santiago were tripped up by the quirks of TVR’s system. This paved the way for a surprise victory for Ester Peopny with “On A Sunday”. But can she triumph on other days of the week, namely Saturdays?

Honestly the songs this year are mostly bad and boring. I only liked Croatia and Estonia. Estonia’s lyrics are kind of better but Croatia’s singer has a much better voice, and definitely the best one.

Estonia – Country is back to Eurovision. This song mixes up a lot of different genres in a smart way. It has pop, rock and electronic. The song is very Swedish in fact… Victor’s live vocals are not very impressive though. Slovenia – Zala and Gasper taking inspiration in Netta. The song is an alternative pop contemporary song. Other than Croatia’s artist (via Houdek), no I don’t think any other artists are. And even if ALL artists did, I would still find it frustrating. This poll is supposed to reflect how the wiwibloggs audience would vote, NOT which artist has the biggest fanbase at home. And yes, while the artists are allowed to share this poll if they chose to (evidently more clicks for wiwibloggs is better for them from a marketing standpoint) the active users of wiwibloggs are fully justified to find it frustrating.
You’re right, but if artists share the poll, it will touch not only their fanbase at home, they could have followers from other countries too, even if this isn’t the majority most of time.
But as long as you can vote for your country, this pool couldn’t be representative if a few artists have a big fanbase at home, like Bilal (which is deserved to me thanks to his voice, personality, hatred that he receives because of what he is(including death threat), and therefore his message of acceptance like in his song).

You guys seem to feed off each other and bully/convince each other that songs like Slovenia or Italy will do well. But the real world lives outside these comments and might totally disagree. Both Italy and Slovenia have no real stage production. They are also quite monotone. These are reasons the real world might feel very different than the blog comments.
