It’s a town of 25,000 people and home to one of the best bandy teams in Sweden.

But on Saturday night, all eyes will turn to Lidköping for a different reason.

That’s because it will host Melodifestivalen 2019 Semi-Final 4 live at the Sparbanken Lidköping Arena.

A final set of seven acts will take to the stage: two will go to the final, two to the duels of Andra Chansen and three will finish their journey where they start in Lidköping.

Pagan Fury will open the show with their elemental anthem “Stormbringer”.

They’re followed by two past Melfest finalists Anton Hagman and Lisa Ajax.

After that dynamic duo comes Arvingarna, with a song co-written by Nanne Grönvall.

Newcomer Bishara follows in fifth, with Ann-Louise Hanson on sixth.

The final “pimp slot” goes to John Lundvik, who’ll close the show with “Too Late For Love”.

You’ve heard the snippets and seen 30-second clips of rehearsals, now we want to know who you think should win the semi-final on Saturday night.

Maybe Pagan Fury light your fire? Or perhaps Lisa Ajax makes your heart want you dead? Or maybe Bishara has it all in the bag as far as your concerned? Whatever you think we want to hear from you!

You can show your love for as many of Saturday night’s acts as you like by voting in our poll below. Make it count though you can only vote once. We’ll close the poll early on Saturday and reveal the result in advance of the semi-final.

Who should win Melodifestivalen 2019 Semi-Final 4?

Audience polls are out for anyone interested – a curious first place but makes sense (sorta) given how many kids were in the audience.

Based on the songs recording… John Lundvik are the obvious number 1 in this semi. Then it will be a race between Lisa and Bishara for the second final spot.

I think Bishara will get his big breakthrough a la Carola.. he is a great vocalist. He is a protege of Laila Bagge.

John Ludvik & Ms Ajax will win. With flying colours
AC is trickier but Bishara & Arvingarna? The old acts seems to be doing well with new voting system.

John Lundvik is bringing his take on Austria’s Cesar Sampson….it will be interesting to see if Sweden will go for this…it will clearly appeal to the juries just like Cesar did, but gospel doesn’t seem to be as resonant with the European public…I thought Cesar’s song felt more modern and this take is a little more traditional Lisa Ajax is bring Felix vibes with the minimalist staging…she’s bound to do well I’m sure they will be the 2 qualifiers, although Felix came out of Andra Chansen leaving an open slot for Arvingara for DTF It hasn’t been a to-die-for Melfest… Read more »

Sorry for the swedish… a question to sweeds..

Eurovision fans are funny. Do you really believe that all the songs selected so far are better than 3 or 4 in this semifinal? Big joke.

Lundvik and Ajax are the two best songs and Hagman deserves an AC spot (though he’ll probably go DTF).

1. John Lundvik (Wow…He was my winner last year and I hope He will slay this year with this wonder)
2. Lisa Ajax (I think My Heart Wants Me Dead and I Don’t Give A were stronger, but still really good)
3. Pagan Fury (something different and amazing staging)
4. I don’t care…

I think this is a really good season… there are many good songs. <3

It’s a shame Loreen refused Torn though. It’s clear the song was written for her ; I can clearly imagine what her vocals would have been in the chorus and even the verse. It suits her so well, it’s as haunting as her voice. But it’s a super good opportunity for Lisa and she seems to be killing it, I’m now rooting for her and Anna in this melfest edition 🙂

For me one of worst MF from 2002 with semifinal. Pagan Fury ,Nano and Mohobi for me have best song in MF.

I totally agree.

They created a lot of hype for nothing.

Last good MF was 2016

True! They had so many good songs back in 2016 and they picked that mumbling boy. ;_;

Lisa Ajax stands out not only in this semi but among all 28 acts. I don’t mind if she win the whole thing.

I am afraid they will choose again something “safe” , but a top 10 finish would be a miracle. Nothing stands out

Remember though, those international juries may do that since they have 50%, so don’t blame Swedes alone.

I’m a bit worried for Lisa. I’m afraid she and Louise will be the first two eliminated Saturday. So all you Swedes, let’s send Ms. Stronger Than Dirt to perform on March 9 this Saturday!

After watching the rehearsal clips: DF: Pagan Fury – Brilliant voice and interesting staging. Lisa Ajax – Amazing voice live and the song is beautiful – the simple staging suits it perfectly (this years Felix Sandman, only better!) AC: John Lundvik – I like the song and the live singing is of course great but just not quite as great as my personal DF qualifiers. I only voted for those three in the poll. My second AC qualifier was a tossup between Arvingarna (enjoyable dance band song and something uniquely “Swedish” and Ann Louise (the song is just ok but… Read more »

Pagan Fury – different. great vocals. I enjoyed it.
Anton Hagman – weak. the staging is giving me Margaret vibes.
Lisa Ajax – a standout.
Arvingarna – enjoyable but not a standout.
Bishara – would sound childish even in JESC. will probably make it through.
Ann Louise – forgettable
John – nice song.

My DTF acts would be Lisa and Pagan Fury but the kid or John will probably take the band’s spot.

Shouldn’t the age-based voting system prevent the kid from making it through?

Tbh I suspect Bishara won’t make it through (I suspect he’ll be the Oscar or Omar of this semi final, so to speak).

My only problem with Pagan Fury guys, is the terribly cliched lyrics……its full of them from start to finish……such a pity, coz the melody is good

Mr. Vanilla Bean
Guest
Mr. Vanilla Bean

That is my problem with literally every single one of the songs. I have to ignore the lyrics to an extent so i can enjoy the ones I like, which are Anna, Hanna&Liamoo and Jon Henrik.

John Moynahan

I can understand that…..it is a serious issue and i find Pagan Fury’s song particularly guilty of awful lyrics…..it’s very lazy of the composers, who seem to think that you can string set phrases together to make a meaningless composition that no-one will take issue with.
Is it because English may not be their first language…..I’m not sure but i find it VERY annoying..

Mr. Vanilla Bean
Guest
Mr. Vanilla Bean

Oh believe me I could go on and on about almost every Eurovision song but i don’t wanna sound like a broken record. I don’t believe it’s a matter of English not being the first language – just look at what the UK does year after year.

My problem with them is that when I hear “swedish metal” I expect something more powerful, heavier and overall excelent – Pagan Fury are only good.
Lyrics sound like standart pseudo-viking-or-other-warrior-metal lyrics to me, and I’m perfectly ok with them.

The band is a joke, they were created for the purpose of promoting a game. Her band did not go with her to perform, she is pretty much a solo artist. If they go dtf they might be preventing John or Bishara from going through and I dislike both. The only relevant act here is Lisa Ajax, the rest are fillers.

Mr. Vanilla Bean

Mr. Vanilla Bean

Well If you prevent Bishara, more power to ya! Btw, I never thought you were Swedish. it’s cool that there’s a Swedish person here who doesn’t repeat the same bs every single time and has different opinions!

Yes, Bishara is one of the most disturbing acts this year for me. Like a younger version of Benjamin and I hate him too.. Thanks I guess, not a huge fan of the other swedish people on here either
