Berlin is ready! Tonight in Germany seven must become one during Unser Lied für Israel — the country’s national selection for Eurovision 2019.

Aly Ryan, BB Thomaz, Linus Bruhn, Gregor Hägele, lilly among clouds, Makeda and Sisters — that’s Carlotta Truman and Laurita — fought their way through a pool of 965 entrants. Then they worked with songwriters to create the perfect song. And tonight they’ll finally deliver the finished product for a shot at singing in Tel Aviv.

The show starts at 20:15 CET and hostess with the mostest Barbara Schöneberger will oversee proceedings. With just hours to go before the show, NDR has released studio cuts of all seven songs. So stop what you’re doing and click on the link below.

You can listen to them on the Eurovision.de web site.

Honestly, I freaking hate this. I just can’t believe how THIS is supposed to be the winner. Average non-Eurovision fans here in Germany just always vote for the act, that performs last. Pls don’t blame us German Euro fans for this mess, we didn’t ask for it.

Just mark my words… ambiance is everything to the Germans. I love Wear Your Love, but I genuinely believe The Day I Loved You Most is about to surprise everyone. The Germans love Makeda, and so do I. She’s got my 12 points, and I am telling you the emotion she will put behind this on stage is going to be everything.

Germany brings a few gems to the table this year- well done! I find Aly’s song, ‘Wear Your Love’ to be a great little tune but the most compelling one is ‘Sisters’. In quite an unassuming way it just draws you in. Hope it wins! I’d be happy with Aly too though.

ALY RYAN – “WEAR YOUR LOVE” sounds like a winner to me. Hope she delivers live the same vocals. This has the oomph factor. If this goes to Tel Aviv we may see Germany win. Great song. The other two which are good LINUS BRUHN and SISTERS. Aly is a league on its own though. Bravo Germany we need this kind of song.

My thoughts: Lilly Among Clouds – “Surprise”. Great instrumental, very touching. The percussion during the final part adds some drama and epicness to it helping the song to develope. Her voice is personal, while the overall entry reminds me a bit of Lana del Rey with Lily’s special touch. This is quality guys. Possible winner here. S!sters – “Sister”. This is better than I expected, especially the verses. The chorus loses a bit of power. I think the overall entry won’t make an impact in the viewers, but it is still enjoyable. BB Thomaz – “Demons”. I was expecting something… Read more »

Lilly has the best song here imo, Aly would be a somewhat distant second, and Gregor my number 3 pick. It’s a pretty strong lineup, clearly Germany are taking the contest seriously once again, but I don’t think any of these songs could win Eurovision. Unless of course all other countries keep up with selecting bad songs. Honestly, the only stand out entry so far is Italy.

After listening to them, the song that really grabbed my attention was Makeda’s. Sometimes the “simplest” or “most traditionally-chosen” option may be the best choice.

It seems like Wiwibloggs readers are sleeping on “Let Me Go.” Gregor’s voice is silky smooth. The vocal sounds natural, not autotuned or altered. And the song ends in a climax that gave me chills. If staged well, it provides the type of moment where Eurovision champions are made. “Wear Your Love” is my number 2. It’s fun, contemporary, and could do well. I don’t see it winning though because it’s not doing anything particularly new. (On a humorous note, if it makes it to Tel Aviv and “Siren Song” from Ukraine does too, those bass speakers are going to… Read more »

The Spanish song is completely overshadowed, especially since Italy (well, the Italian juries) chose Soldi.

As a Spaniard, I just listened to La Venda a couple of times as I soon got tired of it. It will just be the “funny moment” of the show. I do believe that Spain, its cultural richness and all its music potential, could bring to the esc stage something much better and different from the “verbena” image we have trouble to get rid of.

Endlich mal eine starke Auswahl! Ich bin überrascht, dass das tatsächlich alles vom NDR kommt! Wear your love is on my list clearly on the top. 2nd is “Surprise” although it feels a little chaotic for me, just like “Demons”. My 3rd place is “Let me go”. This doesn’t seem to be a big favorite but I will keep it on my third spot!

I really think this pre selection is great! All the songs are of very high standard, super professional and well sung. It’s obvious that Germany wants another victory soon. My favorite is Lily, because it seems to me to have more artistic added value with her Lana del Rey type of voice. The second for me is Makeda. Great ballad. Actually the one I perfer the least is Aly’s song, but it would nevertheless be a good entry maybe more appealing to the televote. Well done Germany and Viel Glück!

LOL!!!! OMG I don’t know who you are, but you are so right! I am ashamed to admit that my personal choices normally are much more jury-like than televote… That doesn’t mean that I don’t count in that factor and have lot of exceptions. Conan’s Telemoveis rings a bell?… 🙂 Also last year my 2nd fav was Italy, which came 3rd in the televote 🙂 And I still think Laura was the best choice for Romania, polemics aside. Could have won the whole thing.

I’m so disappointed. Germany was so good last year with Michael Schulte, but I don’t know what happened this year. Seems like they forgot everything about last year. Or maybe it’s just because i had high expectations. The only one who could do quite okay in the final is “Surprise”. If it has an exceptional staging Germany could reach a top 20 or even top 15 position in the final.

You are all out of your minds if you think Germany can do well with these songs. Only ‘Let Me Go’ is decent, and in the future the only chance for Germany is voXXclub. Generic (universal) songs in English will be the same guillotine for a country that doesn’t have the courage and pride to use its own language. Schulte was an exception, because he cried and it was obvious that is his personal story. Now is Cascada all over again. No, just no. Michael Rice is saved. He will not be last.
