Lithuania – Jurij Veklenko

Forty-eight acts competed in the national selection show Eurovizijos atranka 2019 and after four heats and two semi-finals, eight acts were left to battle it out. In the end, Lithuania has chosen Jurijus as their Eurovision 2019 representative with “Run with the Lions”.

Eurovizijos atranka 2019 final running order

To ensure there were eight different acts in the final, Monika Marija withdrew her entry “Criminal” to focus on her other entry “Light On”. Alen Chicco — who finished fifth in last week’s second semi-final — completed the line-up.

Alen Chicco – “Your Cure”

Junà – “Strength of a Woman”

Henry & Tommy Modric – “Neverpart”

Jurgis Brūzga – “Ctrl Alt Delete”

Jurgis DID & Erica Jennings – “Sing!”

Monika Marija – “Light On”

Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė”

Jurijus – “Run with the Lions”

Eurovizijos atranka 2019 final results

As is the case in other weeks, the Lithuanian jury panel had their say on tonight’s eight finalists and gave out their points. As usual, they count towards 50% of the overall vote, with the other 50% coming from televoting. The jury panel consisted of Ramūnas Zilnys, Vytautas Bikus, Leonas Somovas, Simona Albavičiūtė-Bandita, Darius Užkuraitis, Jonas Nainys and Mykolas Katkus.

Interestingly, the televote mirrored the jury’s sentiments, with Jurijus coming out on top on both fronts.

ENTRY JURY POINTS TELEVOTE POINTS TOTAL POINTS PLACE
Jurijus – “Run with the Lions” 12 12 24 1
Monika Marija – “Light On” 10 10 20 2
Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys – “Mažulė” 8 8 16 3
Jurgis DID & Erica Jennings – “Sing!” 7 7 14 4
Alen Chicco – “Your Cure” 6 6 12 5
Henry & Tommy Modric – “Neverpart” 5 5 10 6
Jurgis Brūzga – “Ctrl Alt Delete” 4 4 8 7
Junà – “Strength of a Woman” 3 3 6 8

Fan favourite Monika Marija finished second with both the jury and televote. “Light On” shone bright but Jurijus edged past. “Run with the Lions” is packed with an intimate performance. Jurijus connects with the audience and hammers home a modern and catchy chorus.

The irony is, while I hate the guts of the outcome here, it’s one of the rare examples of juries and televoters actually agreeing on something this season. Just like in Croatia, terrible results, but at least without an actual scandal outside of the ESC-bubble.

Did such agreement between juries and televoters ever happened before in any national final? The same 8 songs in the same order.

Are you fcukups really discussing sexual preferences of the singer as if this matters? What the actual hell? Gay or not gay, who cares?! Jurijus has a great simple catchy song with a positive message. Stop seeing sex everywhere!

Because lots of Lithuanians are homophobes and Eurovision is a gay contest to them. And only gays win because gay producers and gay jury members make them win. Conspiracies conspiracies…

Very upsetting. Lithuania had one of the most talented singers of any national selection and turned their head the other way. I personally hope the best for them but I think it will be hard to qualify.

People keep on saying that it was obvious that Jurijus would win. It couldn’t be further from the truth. I mean the girl had it in her back pocket. Even before national selection started people said that she might win. The only problem was two songs and the fact that she asked people and jury not to vote for Criminal. It was the wrong move big time. It rubbed jury the wrong way as well. Also I think people thought she was clear winner and forgot to vote.

The jury and televote were giving Jurijus their top marks before Monika caused a stir with asking people not to vote for criminal. It’s not like Monika caused that stir and then the jury were like okay we’ll just vote Jurijus. Going into the final, Jurijus really was one of the favs so saying that Monika had it in her back pocket is actually further from the truth.

As is Monika Marija didn’t win her heats. She won all of them except the final. She came third with a song she asked not to be voted for. Can you imagine asking everyone not to vote and still be on top. She has huge fan base and currently is a judge on The Voice kids. I’m just saying that her loss was extremely surprising.

Even if jury gave Manika 12 pt, Jurijus would have won, since televoting is above jury. (if it is even, then the one with more votes from the ppl will win). For Jurijus not to win, he should have been at 3rd place by jury. And to be fair, there were no songs to acctually compete with Monika and Jurijus.

This sounds like another “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” and that got 9th, so who knows? Average and a bit generic, but somehow it gets stuck in my head. Maybe I’m in for a bit of mainstream, I don’t know? Middle of the pack for me, I guess.

I’m with Polegend this time. The song “Light On’ went beyond generic. There are emotive chord changes in the harmony throughout, so that what would otherwise be a three-chord song is peppered with layers of emotion. Then there is the vocal on the lyrics- very real; very poignant.

oh yeah because Ireland are neighbours to Lithuania. In case you haven’t noticed Ireland offer their 12 points to different countries every year depending on how good the songs are and also last year the jury gave 12 points to Lithuania but the televote gave 12 to Britain. I agree with Indy too that Light On is quite generic for Eurovision (not that i give 2 shts about how generic something is but you brought it up) . Look I’m Irish and I flippin know who we gave 12 points to and its definitely not always Lithuania, you can look it up if you don’t believe me. Also Irelands JURY gave Lithuania 12 points last year, televote gave UK 12 points. Only in 2016 did we give Lituania points and maybe a semi final in recent years. Get your facts straight before making an argument.

You should get your facts straight, Ireland gave 12 televote points to Lithuania last year in both the semi and the final, the jury gave 12 points to Cyprus both times.
Ireland even gave 12 televote points to Fusedmarc, it’s no secret that Jurijus also already has 12 free points regardless of the song.

That’s complete bs also it published the week after the final that we gave the UK 12 points so I dunno why Wikipedia is talking bs. We 100% do not give Lithuania points loads of points all the time. In fact I think we give Belgium a lot of points more often. Were not gonna give Lithuania points for the sake of it also we don’t pity vote or vote because of immigration. I dunno why we gave fusedmarc points because it was cr*p but we don’t and won’t give points to Lithuania for the sake of it.
