The Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — continues to rate and review the songs competing in the andra chansen round of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2019. Next up, we listen to popular YouTuber Vlad Reiser with his song “Nakna i regnet”. Did we heed his wet weather warning? Read on to find out!

Vlad Reiser – “Nakna i regnet”

“Nakna i regnet” reviews

Anthony: Vlad may be best known as a YouTuber, but he’s done well to avoid an early exit on his debut, despite the questionable vocals. And he clearly knows how to interact with the audience on stage. “Nakna i regnet” may be easy on the ears, but it struggles to make the immediate impact needed for Eurovision. With his supportive fanbase, I wouldn’t rule out his chances of reaching the final.

Score: 5/10

Bernardo: Memorable with your eyes. Painful with your ears. Vlad’s comfort on stage is pop star level but the vocals are “third place in a high school talent show” realness. “Nakna i regnet” is crafted for Spotify and it will have its degree of success there. It gets a tad repetitive after the first two minutes but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this in the final.

Score: 5/10

Deban: Vlad may be as cute as a button, but he can’t sing. He can’t really dance either. However, he beholds a sense of fun, and I like him for this.”Nakna i regnet” sounds like a Swedish summer hit. It strikes a ‘get-down’ chord with the listener, and has “viral’ written all over it. At the same time, it is also rather plastic and somewhat disposable.

Score: 4/10

Lucy: I genuinely found this to be one of the more interesting performances on the night, but I’d be amazed to see it go through andra chansen. It’s fun, it’s bright, and hey (or hej), it’s in Swedish! But it lacks a punch and isn’t a classic or an act you think “well, he’ll be back again next year”. It’s alright! But alright doesn’t win Melfest, let alone Eurovision.

Score: 4/10

Robyn: Ok, Vlad isn’t the strongest singer but he can perform. Perhaps from his day job as a successful vlogger, Vlad knows how to get his personality across and he transforms a potentially dull performance into something special. It helps that “Nakna i regnet” is a super catchy song and the staging hasn’t taken the “Bada nakna” path by literally showing him naked in the rain. It’s not for Eurovision, but it feels like a Swedish summer hit in the making.

Score: 7.5/10

Tobias: YouTuber Vlad Reiser may not be a professional singer and having that in mind I think he managed to deliver a good show. The choreography was on point with his background dancers, they were synchronised and the camera effects every here and there added some extra interest. I have never heard Vlad’s voice before, but it was surprisingly good for a person who’s not a singer in his daily life. The song itself wasn’t very impressive, the chorus didn’t stick out from the rest of the song and there wasn’t really any catchy melody. Vlad belongs to the kind of Melodifestivalen artists that are goofy and funny. He is not there to win it.

Score: 2/10

Nakna i regnet – Vlad may not be a professional singer, but he certainly has the charisma and enthusiasm for performing. It comes off very natural and joyful. Also, his singing is not *that* bad. Sure, he ain’t Eugent Bushpepa, but I’ve heard much worse from ”professionals” too. This is sort of a guilty pleasure type of song. This year’s ”Road Trip” or ”Rollercoaster”. The one you know is not here to impress you with it’s depth, but you quite like it anyway. – 7.5/10

The song is called “Nakna I Regnet” – and for this he has way too much clothes on. Please do a “Samir and Victor” performance <3

Can’t sing, can’t dance.
Honestly, no idea why he made it this far.

The song is really catchy and good. Staging looked fine.
Vlad’s vocals are shaky, but he can perform.

Honestly, I really like this. It is a SONG and a PERFORMANCE, but what lacks is Vlad’s vocal ability. He is obviously green to this singing business. I do want to see him on the final, because he can grow from it and showcase a catchy Swedish song to all

If this was given to Danny or Darin or Anton, this would be up there on top indeed. But good for what it is
