On Sunday afternoon Eurofans were abuzz with the news that Tamta’s “REPLAY” had leaked. The instantly catchy beat and her smouldering voice had a lot of you screaming “SLAY!”

Amid all the chatter we had to reach out to CyBC to confirm that this leak was, in fact, her Eurovision 2019 song or some version of it.

Speaking to wiwibloggs, a spokesman for CyBC said: “This was the rough demo when Tamta tried the song for the very first time. And it was still at a very early demo stage without proper production.”

“The song in its final version has a different feel to it.”

CyBC subsequently released an official statement on their Facebook page, which you can read below.

Judging from the opening lyrics, Tamta plays the part of a gorgeous woman who the boys can’t get enough of. Talk about true to life!

She knows a certain someone is addicted to her, and she takes responsibility for his infatuation. As she sings: “I know I’m the one to blame, ’cause I make you scream my name, Baby I’m all in tonight.”

The song features deep bass and a strong brass line that gets stuck in your head and under your skin. The horns may remind you of “Wear Your Love” — the fan favourite from Aly Ryan that didn’t quite make it out of Germany. Hopefully “REPLAY” will act as a salve for their wounds.

The product that’s available may be unfinished, but a quick scroll through social media shows it’s getting plenty of love from fans.

Update at 20:45 GMT: A few hours after the leak, Tamta’s team decided to release a teaser of the final version of the song along with a Facebook post that read, “Enjoy the real thing.”

As you can hear in the 42-second clip below, it’s more polished and fine-tuned. The production helps Tamta’s voice come through more clearly and there’s some added ambient sound to give depth and texture.

The official reveal of the song will be on 5th MarchAre you excited to see how it differs from the demo? Does the demo tease something promising to you? Let us know down below…

REPLAY lyrics — Tamta

You got a problem,
2am I’m in your head
Let’s just be honest tonight

Me I can solve it,
You’re twisting, turning in your bed
The sheets need my body tonight

That’s when you call me, that’s when you call me
Say you’re feeling lonely
Early in the morning, early in the morning
Time is moving slowly

We keep it undercover,
I know you miss the taste
Heart beats like an 808
You need my love on replay

Replay, replay, replay, yeah
You need my love on replay
Replay, replay, replay, yeah

You’re stuck on me, darling
Like a love song on repeat
You got a problem alright
And I know I’m the one to blame
‘Cause I make you scream my name
Baby, I’m all in tonight

That’s when you call me, that’s when you call me
Say you’re feeling lovely
Early in the morning, early in the morning
Time is moving slowly.

We keep it undercover,
I know you miss the taste
Heart beats like an 808
You need my love on replay

Replay, replay, replay, yeah
You need my love on replay
Replay, replay, replay, yeah…

It sounds like Fuego, I won’t lie. However, it sounds powerful and it fits Tamta’s personality. I like this, though I’m not thrilled. Looking forward to listening to all 3 minutes.

Most people argue that it’s the same as last year’s entry fuego and even call it boring and stuff. But the reality is that in this contest there are millions viewers who literally just listen to the songs for the 1st time at the night of semi-final and final. People are busy working and doing their own stuff. They are not listening to the songs 3 months before the show or try to compare it with last year or so entries. The moment this song is aired live then the judgement will be done on what they’ve watched and listened… Read more »

It is a boring flat generic pop song…..definetely not a winner–i would not be surprised if cyprus would be out of top 10-very poor song

Ok so…. this song is sick! whatever is said, the majority of voters on the night are probably listening to things for the first time and this stands out above the rest for sure. Its up tempo, well produced pop song with a killer staging, it will kick ass. I know there are comparisons to Ukraine about Im sorry, its rather obvious lyrically, vocally and production wise this a cut above. Also you can listen to more of the song from this Greek daytime TV show at 1:27 in, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4FiQMPtX8s Also in this show they mention that the bridge, which… Read more »

Although I like it, and think it’s what we need at Eurovision, I also feel it’s kinda like Fuego all over again. It lacks a bit of creativity; they took what worked last year and did it again. Now let’s hope the full song has a bit of dynamism and that they make sure the staging doesnt resemble Eleni’s, else it could backfire.

Thank God because when I first listened to the demo I thought to my self “Oh this is really going to be a bad year”
It sounds so wannabe Foureira and the fact that it gave me Fuego vibes is not positive in any way. It’s just a copycat of Fuego basically…

I like it, but it sounds to me like they wanted to repeat what worked for them last year and haven’t come up with as quality a product… Unless the final cut adds more than what Fuego brought to the table last year, I suspect submitting such a similar entry will have diminishing returns…

Huge potential though (definitely trying to go for something like Fuego but not exactly the same, which is great)
Good luck 🙂

It is not bad but it is really generic and a bit boring….no doubt that on stage it will be really nice but as a song it is very mediocre and not special…..the comparison with fuego and eleni foureira is inevitable….Cyprus seems to be the new Bulgaria…

As others have said, Ukraine are probably doing this slightly better at this point. Having said that, Eleni’s song wasn’t much as a Studio song (bookmakers had it in the 20s) so yeah, it’s not so bad that there’s no potential. Work to be done though!

Yet and still the sneak peak they posted sounded the same. Girl please pfff, there in not a ounce of originality in that song. Don’t get me wrong it is pleasant to hear, but that doesn’t cut it for me. Also is not good when so many ppl already are comparing this to fuego and siren song, both btw sound way better.

Totally agree with you, “Replay” is nothing more than a rip off from Fuego and it’s painful to hear that it also sounds like Maruv’s song, wich is way better in my opinion…

Remember when everyone underrated Cyprus in 2018 until the jury final, when they jumped to the top of the odds from nowhere? Because I do! I didn’t give Cyprus a second thought in 2018, it was a song that was on my playlist but just sort of there, it wasn’t one I ever thought of as a winner. Then I sat there in the arena during the semi final and boom, there she was, the winner.

Well, the same happened with Netherlands in 2014. But talking about Replay, i dont believe they will do as well as last year. This time people will expect a lot more from Cyprus than last year, it’s really tough to live up to high expectations.

Since the new poll hasn’t started yet:

This season was so, so slow. The fact that we will get 6 songs simultaneously on March 2 and internal selection avalanche from March 4-10, it’s kind of an impression that most countries just want to at least have a song before the deadline. 😛

basically no one gave Fuego much thought until Eleni stepped into the first rehearsal in Lisbon…Im sure everyone will hold their breath until Tamta does the same in Tel Aviv….I love that Cyprus and Ukraine are performing in the same semi…everyone will be comparing the two songs and curious about each staging…it will all ride on Sacha’s shoulders, but guessing Cyprus is crossing every finger they have that Ukraine dumps Maruv…I hope they don’t…we finally have juicy drama for Eurovision…cant wait to hear Russia’s song next

So “Replay” is basically a “replay” of the hype of Fuego. I see they were clever with the concept. It it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I wasn’t fully loving Fuego until I saw the live performance last year, and I have a feeling it will be the same with “Replay” this year.
(Oh, I wonder if Tamta will advertise a fruit basket and skincare products in her video, as a nod to Eleni? 🙂 )

I don’t think “Siren Song” and this are similar at all I don’t know where everyone is that getting from? They may both use horns but their vibes are totally different and the stagings will be as well.

I actually love “Replay” but it’s not a winner. I think the winner will be a song that is very different and new(er) for the eurovison stage like “Sebi” or “Soldi” or even Maruv’s complete domina slayage…or maybe a boring generic ballad… people still love those.

I really think this might flop. It’s super hard to come up with an extremely similar song to Fuego, from the same country, after Eleni’s major performance. People will compare. Tamta better deliver an even more stunning performance cuz the legacy is tough to bear.

Also the voice is so distorted that it makes me wonder how it will translate live. But I wish Cyprus all the best! Would be dope to see them win!

So the official version is just like the demo, but more autotune. I still don’t think it deserves all the hype. It’s not the type of music I usually listen to, but it doesn’t mean that this kind of bops can’t be special or have something original that makes them stand out. I really liked ‘Fuego’ when it came out last year, especially for its ethnic vibes, and I do like ‘Siren Song’ this year for different reasons.
I think ‘Replay’ is on the same level as ‘X my heart’. Very generic and forgettable.

Alex

Cyprus should hope Maruv’s entry to be disqualified as it’s a similar track, a very strong entry (hot performance, similar concept) that might overshadow Tamta in Tel Aviv… we all know how big Ukraine is in televoting!

Apart from that, Replay is modern and fresh but nothing ground-breaking. A nice summer hit that needs something great on stage like Fuego. Tamta is very talented so it’s up to Sacha.

with Maruv winning, Cyprus had to leak something so they are not accused of being the 2nd with a similar horn/bass push driving the song….Im sure the fans will love this…but if its staged in a highly sexualized manner as Maruv–the two songs will be competing for the same audience…remember Greta Salome and Sergey? the best staging went through and the other fell in the SF

The song its catchy and seems polished from the little that we know about it but you people forget one important thing: THERE IS A SWEDISH TEAM BEHIND IT. They are professionals, they have close ties with ebu, they got the best running order last year (19th and 25th). I think that Cypruse is the no1 on the wishlist of ebu on where to move the contest next year. No politics involved, a team which is passionate, they have the money, and they can fix the only problem which is the venue. I wont be suprised if it will be… Read more »

I actually don’t mind it, partly because I’m a sucker for bass drops. What only bothers me is that it’s too similar to Fuego tho.
Now as people are comparing this with Maruv, then I must say I like Ukraine’s more since it’s unique, has ethnic elements (which I love) and the performance was ultimate slayage. For this, I feel like the staging can make it or break it, otherwise I’m quite ok with this.
