Forty two acts will no doubt be singing for supremacy come May. And while preparation is no doubt well underway, they should know that they may have past Eurovision stars among them – with reports suggesting former Eurovision winners Mans Zelmerlow, Conchita Wurst, Alexander Rybak and former participants Verka Serduchka and Eleni Foureira rumoured to as an interval act.

Israeli news website Israel hayom reports that these big names may perform in Tel Aviv – with each singer performing another singer’s Eurovision song.

The news finally confirms the long-time rumour that Eleni Foureira will perform as an interval act at Eurovision this year. We might just be seeing Mans rising like a phoenix, or Rybak butt-dropping to yeah yeah fiiiire.

Former Eurovision winners performing as an interval act is nothing new. As we all lighted our fire in Baku in 2012, former winners Lena, Dima Bilan, Marija Serifovic, Ell & Nikki and Alexander Rybak performed their Eurovision entry again but in a different version with a few traditional instruments.

The news coincides with rumours that American popstar Madonna is also hitting the Eurovision stage as an interval act. While nothing is confirmed yet, rumours have it that financial terms are preventing a contract from being signed. She is a material girl, after all.

What do you think about this interval act? Are you hyped to see former Eurovision participants and winners performing once again? Let us know in the comments section below!

One of the Facebook groups It is alleged that they will probably sing a duet with singers who were in the previous finals of the TV show The Next Star to eurovision, this is the copy from the madie. “These days they are working energetically in the corporation on the big show of the year, and among all the planned segments is a section that will delight many of the competition enthusiasts. If there are no last-minute changes, Elini Pourira of Cyprus, who was Netta’s opponent in the Eurovision 2018, is expected to finish second, Conchita Wrest of Austria, Eurovision… Read more »

Maybe Verka can sing Siren Song, huh? What was his opinion on the matter?
I don’t think we should support Verka this year after this political mess in Vidbir…
As for the others (and Verka in any other year) I love the idea 🙂

I love this idea. Eurovision welcomes all its stars back in with open arms.
Also: re-watching the clip from 2012 reminds me now, as ever, that Believe blows.

Right? How the hell did it win? Nothing suspicious at all, not at all.

I really like the idea of them performing other Eurovision artists’ songs. Can you imagine Eleni singing Toy? Maybe Netta will actually do a remix of Fuego?

I don’t care for that, but whatever. I still remember them singing Waterloo in 2012. That did the name justice, it was a musical Waterloo indeed. Only Serifovic was really singing that song.

Err no. It seems lazy to have a bunch of former Eurovision contestants perform rather than having Israeli artists do performances that showcase Israeli music, culture, etc.

If KAN fills the show only with Israeli culture then they will be accused of propaganda. (People challenge the concept of “Israeli heritage”). I’m sure there will be Israeli artists involved across the three live shows — but it is also quite wise to involve others.

Bringing past ESC winners makes sense for everyone to celebrate the heritage of Eurovision in bringing people together and spreading ein bisschen Frieden.

Portugal filled their show with Portuguese culture last year and no one complained.

True and they did the right thing. But there were many complaints, which was really sad…

I’d prefer they sang their own Eurovision songs but still, I’m happy about this.
It will be so interesting to see a much more masculine version of Conchita then the one fans where used too.

Be nice if they could get Loreen back too. After all, in my opinion, she was the best winner and best song of the decade.

Israel welcoming Eleni to perform a mash of Fuego and then her new single is a wonderful idea. I really hope we see Netta and Eleni on stage together.

Inviting last year’s runner-up is a master stroke of magnanimity from the organisers.

Inviting such a plethora of former winners also shows that they want Tel Aviv to be seen as a welcoming place for the whole Eurovision family, from Conchita and Verka to Alexander and Mans.

It will be fabulous to have Conchita back! The wider non-bubble Eurovision audience might be in for a shock to see how Conchita’s changed!

I follow Conchita on Instagram, and she just recently rocked a *bald* look (but still had the beard). A bit shocking, but I haven’t seen a look yet that Conchita has failed to pull off.

Oh Crystal I completely agree, every Conchita look has been fabulous! 🙂 I can talk at length about how much I adore her. She’s very inspiring. All I meant was that viewers who will tune in just for the Grand Final, who are outside of the fan bubble and wouldn’t think to follow past winners, will perhaps be very surprised to see how much Conchita has changed from singing Rise Like A Phoenix in a ball gown. I’ve met many non-fans who (still) find Conchita’s drag perplexing (particularly the beard), and I love what she’s done to point out some… Read more »

Conchita is no longer a “she”, he prefers the “he” pronoun now. Keep up!
