Greece has been relatively hush-hush about their moves leading to Eurovision 2019. Last month they confirmed that Katerine Duska would represent Greece in Tel Aviv, and now we have a tantalising snippet of her entry “Better Love”.

Katerine uploaded a short but intriguing clip to her Instagram feed. It features an image of a person with long wavy hair being stroked by another person wearing a long, white mesh glove and a large pearl ring. The caption reads, “Gotta get… #betterlove #5daystogo #daretodream #esc2019 #Eurovision #telaviv #Eurovision2019.”

But more interesting is the audio. It is a ten-second clip with an ethereal, electropop vibe, that ends with a breathy “gotta get”. Are we going to be transported to a mystical world? We will have to wait until this coming Wednesday, 6 March to see!

“Better Love” has Greek-British musician Leon of Athens and Scottish singer-songwriter David Sneddon on its composing team, as well as the Montreal-born representative herself.

Sneddon may be best known as the winner of the first series of Fame Academy — the BBC’s 2002 version of the Operación Triunfo franchise. But Sneddon has years of experience under his belt, both as a solo artist and as a songwriter, having worked with artists such as Hurts, Lana del Rey and Jessica Mauboy.

Katerine has recently revealed some intriguing details about “Better Love”. She says, “It is not a ballad, it’s a mid-tempo pop song, has a pulse, strength and melodiousness. We started from a demo, that was approved by the committee and went to London to evolve it. I am proud of the final result. I wanted to come out with a song that had such an aura and atmosphere. It’s like a big hug, it has a very tonic element. Instead of singing something introverted or dark, I wanted an uproar.”

The Greek entry will be revealed this Wednesday, March 6, during ERT’s presentation of its new program  at Athens’ Opera House.

What do you think? Will Greece redeem themselves from their non-qualification last year? What do you expect for “Better Love”? Let us know in the comments below!

I can’t really have an opinion based only on few seconds of snippet, but I’m really glad it’s not ballad. So many countries are sending ballads this year I’m afraid I may fall asleep during Eurovision.

I don’t really get why they are releasing 5 sec of their song just a couple of days before the actual release. Either release the whole thing earlier or just wait!

That snippet alone is arguably the best 5 seconds of any song revealed so far

Those 5s sound promising, but it could be either bad or good, it is not enought to judge.

Guys this year’s greek entry will be the absolute surprise!Artistic, modern, not similar with any other and with a great song! The singer has a great voice!People who wrote her song are musicians that have worked with Lana del Rey and many other famous artists!Mark my words, the greek entry will be a paradise among this year’s bad entries! This is art!

2017 – Greece had the artist, but not the song
2018 – Greece had the song, but not the staging

Could 2019 be the year in which they manage to get the “secret combination” of artist, song and staging?

In 2018 the artist was also the problem. The lady had 10 years to perform professionally and she was completely blant on stage

Sincerely, I just hope Greece is playing fair: composing and releasing the song after almost all the other countries having shown theirs. I wonder if she did not tryed to see what was already out at the eurovision market in order to get nspired and overcome the better existing ones…

It’s only 17 songs and some snipetts, so WTF are you talking about. And Greece is not one of the countries to do so, there are many others that could do that.

His point would still be fail, but more accurate if he didnt refer to Greece specifically but to all countries that will have an internal selection and have not released the song yet, and it’s quite a few of them ( Russia, Armenia,Poland, San Marino to name a few )

That doesn’t make any sense when you take in to consideration that we’ve known the song title for like 2 weeks already. Actually almost all countries who are doing internal selections have already given statements and hints to what their song will sound like. Only azerbaijan, malta, and ireland haven’t given a single word about their song until now.

You can’t be that naive. Just because you know the title. wow.

So you expect them to write a completely different entry based around the same song title in a timespan of like a week? Broadcasters and song writers aren’t magicians you know.

They are not magicians, and they don’t need to be. They are song-writers, and is enough.

They ‘re giving hints about the song since mid February (dynamic mid-tempo with a strange instrumentation). I think you ‘re being paranoid here.

What are you even talking about? Nobody is telling the artists that they can’t do whatever they want with their choices as long as they have a song ready when they have too.

The goal is to send a good song, how is it cheating in any way even if she did see what type of songs where already out?

What a stupid comment! Do you think songs get written overnight??? She’s been writing the song for a long period of time ( had it even before she accepted to represent Greece ) and been producing it in London for days… I am 100% sure she isnt even paying attention to all the flops that are being selected around Europe right now.

Really happy Katerine actually co-wrote the song! My expectations are high from Greece this year. They’re coming with a talented singer and a bigger budget (Ert will spend 330.000 €). The producer of the song (Phil Cook) has worked with Ellie Goulding, Birdy, Paloma Faith, Little Mix and more. I’m waiting for a very artistic and alternative performance. Also Katerine will allegedly have dancers with her onstage. Maybe an impactful contemporary choreography?
