We hope other Eurovision representatives are taking notes – because someone is already in the running for this year’s Miss Congeniality.

While empowering the masses with his Eurovision entry, “Roi”, Bilal Hassani added a personal touch on a recent trip to Tel Aviv by taking time to meet his Israeli supporters, including those in the LGBTQ community.

The singer arrived in Tel Aviv this past weekend to film his Eurovision ‘postcard’ – the short video clip that will precede his Eurovision performance in May.

Showing his appeal extends beyond age, Bilal met with elderly members of the LGBTQ community, who he thanked for the impact they made on his generation of LGBTQ members. He also met 20 young members of the community.

During the meet and greet, Bilal explained the importance of “Roi” to his audience:

“The song “Roi”, which I will be performing at the Eurovision, talks about acceptance and self-love, and I am grateful that thanks to you, I can be myself, regardless of what others will say”.

In attendance was Tel Aviv-Yafo City Council Member Itay Pinkas, who spoke highly of the French star:

“Many are inspired by Bilal. He embodies perfectly the values of the Eurovision Song Contest: solidarity between people and nations, the love of art as music and the courage to share a different voice. In the name of the City and the Municipality, we are proud to welcome Bilal.”

Bilal has kept fans well entertained on his trip, treating his fellow EasyJet passengers to a mini-cabaret show to flaunt his undeniable charisma and talent.

As Tel Aviv is gearing up to welcome Bilal (and all the rest of us) once more in May, only time will tell whether the rest of Europe will be welcoming our French Roi into their hearts at the Eurovision final.

What do you think about Bilal’s chances at Eurovision this year? Let us know in the comments!

Hahaha your comment reminds me of when Salvador reacted to one of the national jury members giving him 12 points and saying he was a “pop prince”.

On a serious note I do agree with you. 40s is not old.

I don’t know who the guy on the left is, but the one in the blue shirt is a council member of the Tel Aviv municipality who is (among other things) in charge of all municipal issues regarding the LGBT community. So he’s probably there as an organizer of the event, not as an elderly citizen.

The most shocking about this is that he actually had a wig all this time?!
