Earlier today he was confirmed as Switzerland’s representative for Eurovision 2019. And now we finally get to hear Luca Hänni’s song following the unveiling of the music video for “She Got Me”.

An uptempo pop banger, Luca is bringing us to the dance floor with his song for Tel Aviv. The song tells the story of his infatuation for a woman who captures his attention and then keeps it by popping and locking on the dance floor. She’s so fierce that he starts dirty dancin’. As he sings:

She let her body (talk)
She mad the party (stop)
She gettin’ naughty
Dropping and dropping it down

When she go low
When she go low
She go so low
She go so low

Oh she know oh
Oh she know
She got me dirty dancing

Luca Hänni – “She Got Me”

Luca, an accomplished dancer, brings his skills to the fore in the glossy music video. Perhaps nodding to The Greatest Showman, he spots a glamorous woman in a speak-easy style bar before literally dancing on the bar top.

The Swiss singer has fantastic eye contact with the camera. He knows what he’s got and he isn’t afraid to flaunt it! The group dance sequences are particularly impressive, showing off his ability to move in sync and en masse.

The visuals of the video — very Old World glam — contrast nicely with the Oriental, Near Eastern sounds of the song. We dare you not to dip it low after watching this.

About Luca Hänni

Luca Hänni gained popularity after he was the youngest and first non-German winner of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (aka German Idol) at 17 years old in 2012. His winning single “Don’t Think About Me” reached number one in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and his four studio albums have all reached the top ten on the Swiss charts.

He’s not a one-trick pony though. In addition to winning Dance Dance Dance in 2017, he’s also been involved in other high-profile projects outside of singing. Last year he was a part of the German edition of Ninja Warrior.

In December 2018 he performed a sensual contemporary dance routine with Schlager-Queen Helene Fischer at her Christmas show to his song “Bei mir” (originally released in English as “Powder”). He knows how to set up a performance!

He’s also a model, designs clothes and publishes his own magazine, Stories. The boy is busy! So we’re very glad he managed to find the time to fit in an appearance at Eurovision.

This won’t be Luca’s first contact with Eurovision, as he presented the Swiss jury votes in 2017.

What do you think of Switzerland’s internal selection? Are you loving Luca Hänni and his song? Let us know in the comments section below!

I don’t care that it sounds like Cyprus’ entry last year. If he can perform this song live like he does in the video, I think it will win!

I’m interested, but I’ll need to hear this live to form a proper opinion, the audio production on that video is… significant :p

I was wondering, which song it reminds me!! And it seems a lot like Renaida – All the Feels from Melodifestivalen 2018!! And of course they are similar songs since the 3 of the 5 composers behind are the same

Switzerland will see their first Top 10 result since 2005 (second in televoting since 2014).

If the staging is massive, it can do even better with televoters.

though I have a weakness for pop songs like these, this one just doesn’t do the trick for me. it feels a bit cheap, generic and forced, and Switzerland is trying way too hard to get the gays to vote for them. might get them to the final though!

He looks pretty basic to be honest, nor a hot/ripped body, nor an interesting face. Think that title would fit 80% of the other males in the competition lol

The song isn’t bad it’s one of the stronger songs of the year, the UK will finish in the top ten with this and I’m sick to death of people constantly ripping on the UK when they produce something good.

Oh the UK had such a great opportunity with Sweet Lies. A shame we went for this. But if you like it, that’s great, although it is, of course, subjective.

I doubt it. It’s a male ballad, and we already have The Netherlands and potentially Russia with much stronger male ballads, Sorry, but things don’t look great for the UK this year. Bigger than Us is too safe, too harmless and too predictable, just like the past British entries in this decade.

No matter what the haters will say Michael Rice is very talented and the song is a REAL song if you know what i mean… The sound is flawless and he nails it with his amazing voice. At this contest we forgot that its about music.. 100% underated like last year and the one before. Uk gets my vote this year.
