She’s the X-Factor judge who’ll sing for Cyprus at Eurovision 2019.

And since her song “Replay” dropped Tamta has received attention from all over the world.

In a reaction video on her YouTube channel, her song also gets the seal of approval from music stars from Greece, Cyprus and Georgia.

The video features three acts familiar to Eurovision fans:

      • Sakis Rouvas, who sang for Greece in 2004 and 2009, and hosted Eurovision in 2006
      • Evridiki, who sang for Cyprus in 1992, 1994 and 2007, placing eleventh on the first two attempts
      • Stephane Mgebrishvili, better known as the frontman of Georgia’s ill-fated Eurovision 2009 act Stephane & 3G

The fourth face in the video is Panos Mouzourakis. He has not been to Eurovision but he does have a connection to the contest. He played Lazaros in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, the musical film based on the music of ABBA, who won Eurovision in 1974.

Sakis says the song has an, “amazing groove.” He also compliments Tamta and stresses the song needs to be played “loud.” Evridiki and Stephane are also effusive with praise, head-bobbing throughout the clip. Evridiki even sings along to the chorus at one point.

Panos appears to have a few problems getting the song to play. But, once he can hear it, he immediately asks how to say twelve points in French. If that isn’t an endorsement we don’t know what is.

The clip has wracked up 62k views (at time of publishing) since it was released yesterday.

Tamta also released a behind-the-scenes clip from the video on her Instagram page.

The clip shows various elements of the video and at each stage Tamra getting behind the camera to make sure she’s happy with the finished product.

I like it but the Netherlands is the one that I now compare all the entries to and ask if they are better than the Netherlands? So far despite there being some good entries no song is better than the Dutch entry.

Well I’m Cypriot but this year i want the Netherlands to win because they deserve it. And i do believe that CyBc made a mistake sending same kind of song with pop female artist two years in a row. But i hope she scores in the top 10!

You all are devastated because Cyprus followed the same recipe even though the melodies of the two songs are completely different. Let me remind you that you didn’t like Fuego up until the first rehearsal. So spare us the drama…

What a shocker all Greeks like Cyprus. When have it not happened? They would not even film it if they said they didnt like it

Since when is it bad for two nations that share the same national anthem to not like each other? Don’t act like this is not happening elsewhere…

Remember when Eleni Foureira last year DIDNT have the greek song as here favourite and had to change her mind just to please greeks? I know you remember that. But you choose not to.

Tamta, Tamta, Tamta… it gets boring. Does Wiwibloggs want Cyprus to win? Where are the reactions to the new amazing songs like The Netherlands or Switzerland? The one for Cyprus obviously was up seconds after she released the video..

I couldn’t agree more with you! Come on guys, we had enough with Tamta. Show some news from the other countries as well.

They really did upload it a bit after the song release xD
And yea, of course they want Cyprus to win, after Fuego and now Replay
And well, they can do whatever they want, it’s a blog after all :3 Give them some time, they also have jobs and studying

I don’t know why but I feel all the hype around Cyprus and Italy will disappear on Eurovision stage just like it happened with Il Volo or Francesco Gabbani…

Maybe I’m wrong but I see Iceland, The Netherlands and maybe Switzerland in the top

If Hatari are not banned from Eurovision before…

I like Iceland but i was wondering about the same thing. Isn’t it too wild for esc? Especially with the children all over europe watching.. And i repeat i love Icelandic entry.

Eleni was humble and never hyped her song until the very last moment where she bombed the stage. Tamta’s PR on the other hand, is tediously marketing a mediocre song that might not be so well-received, should the live performance lack. She will eventually be driven into an inevitable stress, if that keeps continuing, only to live for the expectations.

Just like Bulgaria last year; the obnoxious and obsessive campaign by BNT to try and promote a frankly average song as having winner potential seemed to be working until the semi final when when it all collapsed for them and fell from 2nd to 18th in the odds

Yup. And Bulgaria spent that much money on that flop that they don’t participate this year. Honestly, I think Cyprus are playing some sort of psychological game: make people remember Fuego and therefore make them vote for Replay. Even the name of the song could indicate another psychological trick.

I mean seriously? Psychological trick? They are just following a recipe that worked for them last year. Also this blog is neither run nor funded by Cypriots – as far as we know. Simply, people were hyped about the Cypriot entry this year, given that it’s the same team that brought us Fuego, so bloggers are just writing about it. And this is like the 4th article they wrote for Cyprus this year so I don’t really see the problem. But in all honesty, I don’t get where all this negativity is coming from, not even just for Cyprus, but… Read more »

I dont get all the hype around Replay.

While last year, Eleni only could surprise all, Tamta has all the pressure on her, and I still dont believe that Replay has the potential to be lifted up by a good staging.

Well, it’s a catchy and reasonably well produced uptempo song performed by an attractive woman. When was the last time many Wiwi readers *didn’t* overhype an entry fitting that description?

I dunno. Eleni Foureira, Saara Aalto, if we’re sticking with national finals then holy crap there’s a lot…

Colin

Both Eleni and Saara’s entries were among the highest rated ones here. I ain’t saying some of them aren’t genuinely good, I’m only saying that the genre helps in being widely accepted. NF songs often follow the same pattern. The only time female-sung ”bangers” aren’t decently rated is when they are too cheap or completely out of the box.

If you dont like replay dont listen to it and dont comment on it.. simple… why someone to spend so much time and energy for something that he/she doesnt like?

My reaction: Where have I heard it before? Hmm… reminds me of Cyprus, but the year was 2017, no, wait, 2016, no, it will come to me…

He does know that they say “12 points” in French right after they say “12 points” in English, right? Like every time?
