She gave us nothing but love in Lisbon, and following her appearance at Eurovision 2018 Australia’s Jessica Mauboy has been busy making new music for us all. And now, we finally get to hear what she’s been working on, with the release of her new single “Sunday“.

Despite high expectations from fans going into the contest, Jessica only ended up in 20th place at Eurovision with her entry “We Got Love”. But, luckily for us Jessica hasn’t given up on music all together, and we now get to listen to her first new single since performing in Lisbon last year.

“Sunday”, which has a length of 3:03 minutes, is a feel-good pop track that easily gets stuck in your head. The chorus has an infectious melody, but also shows off Jessica’s stunning vocal quality.

The choir harmonies that lie underneath the Australian singer in the pre-chorus build up perfectly before the chorus drops in and takes it home. This is no doubt going to be a perfect song to sing along to this summer.

Lyrically, Mauboy makes it clear that “I just want me and you chilling on a Sunday afternoon”. But, whoever she’s singing about must be making a big mistake: “When we get emotional you close me out and lock the door”.

It all seems like the star is ready for a relationship — unlike the other person involved in this scenario. That’s not how you treat our beloved Australian singer!

Jessica Mauboy – “Sunday”

Clearly Jessica Mauboy isn’t bitter about her Eurovision finish at all. She’s currently performing a few intimate shows for her Australian fans, and we know that they are going to love this new track as well.

Love her but it sounds very similar to “Sorry” from Demi Lovato.

We Got Love obviously wasn’t a winner or anything, but it did not deserve as low as 20th spot either. I’m still bitter about her and Saara Aalto’s final placing.

Anyways – actually enjoy this song a lot! It’s got a really chilled vibe to it too

As I said in another post, Jess Mauboy had a shit team around her last who didn’t manage to put any of their ideas on stage because they were too late lol – which at the end of the day is terrible amateurish from the Australian delegation and Jessica didn’t deserve to be completely let down by her team or completely thrown under the bus by Sacha Jean-Baptiste lol. I feel bad for Jess because she had ambitions but she never really stood a chance with that team around her. And I’m pissed because she deserved a similar chance to… Read more »
