If the lyrics of “Replay” have it right, then last night at 2am Tamta was in your head. And she’s going to linger there just a bit longer after you watch this video of her chatting with her backing dancers.
In the video Tamta describes her Eurovision 2019 song as poppy and upbeat. “I love it and my boys love it too,” she says. “I hope you will like it and love it too.
So why is she singing for Cyprus? “I love Cyprus. I had an offer for the second time in a row from Cyprus and I can’t wait to be living this experience with all of you. Boys, mommy wants you here!”
Her dancers have plenty of experience at Eurovision. Lamin Holmen was one of Robin Bengtsson’s backing dancers at Eurovision 2017. And Benjamin Trosso appeared as a stunning high-fashion sea sponge during the catwalk opening of Eurovision 2016.
In the video you also learn that Tamta prefers sushi to pizza and loves Georgian fashion.
The boys also tease a tantalising tidbit of their stage show. You see their hips swaying and their knees slightly spreading, as if they are fanning the stage with their muscular thighs.
Are you feeling it? Do you think this is the nucleus of a knockout performance? Let us know down below.
I like Cyprus this year, but for me, song is not for Eurovision, but for cocktails on the beach while the sun is out there and we all have fun.
I bet she’s never been to Cyprus lol
of course she did what u talking about? You know how many years she is famous in Greece? Everyone came to Cyprus for concerts all the time stop saying things you are not aware of ffs
Anna Vissi, Sarbel, Loukas Yiorkas, Eleftheria Eleftheriou, Maria Eleni Kiriakou are all Cypriots who have represented Greece in the recent history of Eurovision. Get over it, the music industry is the same for Greece and Cyprus .
Judging by the comments below I can see the tension is rising as we are now counting less than a month for the shows. Enjoy Eurovision and dare to dream everybody! As for my country and our choices in the last two years let me just say this: We are honored to have “adopted” these two beautiful and talented performers and gave them the chance to make one of their dreams come true and appear on the eurovision stage when no one else gave them that chance. The fact that they are not cypriot is irrelevant to us because they… Read more »
Can you do Kostas Martakis next? I really like him, and I’d love to see him on the Eurovision stage someday, but he’d always been unlucky with the Greek National Finals
I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a man next year but I don’t think it will be him 🙁
It’s just botox.
I enjoy many songs this year, I must say. But I have very clear I will vote for ethnic entries which represent their country and show us their culture. This is why this contest was meant to be.
I like your comment.
It does not have to be cultural or traditional for me, because then some countries are at a clear disadvantage because a lot of people don’t like their typical music. But I do very much prefer it when at least part of the artist-songwriter-stage director-background vocalist team is from the country they represent.
I love the song, but it’s not really a Cypriot enty when everybody involved isn’t from Cyprus.
And now everybody who was complaining that the official Eurovision channel had only posted an interview with Duncan can stop.
Eleni’s team was Swedish as well. Get over it
It seems tha people here can’t accept there there are other people who DON’T like the cypriot entry this year, get over it!
That choreo is…. a choice.
I am hopeful that Cyprus goes completely Cypriot again in terms of the singer, songwriter, staging director, dancers and so on in the next years… after all, an all Cypriot-constellation HAS worked for them in the past, and the Cypriot HOD has got to keep that in mind. If they continue with “shopping internationally”, Cyprus might take the same route as Azerbaijan…
If we go cypriot we wont win. EVER. From Cyprus
Totally agree……and unfortunately even if Tamta was 20 she would not have the charisma of Eleni!Nothing cypriot and it is a shame that countries like Cyprus massively BUY swedish products
…..
Oh vanilla bean….always with the nice words.
Me too… your hilarious. Hope you feel better one day.
Totally can!!! I’m insane just like you
I think you kinda ignore the fact that Greece and Cyprus are two different sides of the same coin. So of course, why not Cyprus? Even if she is Georgian, she has obvious started to think like a Greek, and looks at Cyprus as Greece.
Yeah but saying that Cyprus is ”the same” does not sound nice
All Cypriot singers make a career in Greece (because Cyprus is tiny to have a music industry on its own) and a few Cypriot artists have represented Greece in the past. It’s the exact same music in both countries. I think that’s what she means.
it doesn’t matter,it sounds bad, like ”hey i wanted to go to eurovision and cyprus was.the only one that wanted me so it is the same”
Greeks and Cypriots speak Greek. They have different flags but the same national anthem. They are of different nationality but as an ethnos they are the same: Greeks. Maybe that’s why Tamta says it’s the same….
if cypriots are greeks then there should be only one representative for both countries….actually i thought that Cyprus is more like middle east or turkey…anyways
But they are two countries, Cyprus and Greece. Ethnically, they are Greeks.
They look more middle eastern but ok…canadians speak French but this does not make them French…anyway
“Two. Different.Countries.”
The same nation though…
they don’t share the same national anthem…cyprus has adopted the greek national anthem which was written by a greek poet….and if i am not mistaken in cyprus in front of all the public buildings there is.the greek flag apart from the cypriot one.
I hope this helps: The cypriot national anthem is the music from the greek national anthem. But it’s basically the same. Which makes it controversial for an ethnically diverse country like cyprus (this is coming from a greek cypriot). The constitution says greek cypriots can have the greek flag next to the cypriot one and turkish cypriots can have the turkish flag next to the cypriot one. Another evil legacy from imperialists to ethnically divide the island. But anyway, this is a conversation outside music. There are things which are the same between Greeks and Cypriots (at least the greek… Read more »
Cyprus replaying fuego with recycled version, this deserves to stay in semifinal, I don’t know how fuego writer didn’t get copyright to sue, were they offered money to keep silent, that’s just my opinion ofcourse, good luck Cyprus but don’t think Europe can’t hear you replaying fuego as the title of the song indicates
I hope that the choreography will contain some DEATH DROPS! From what I can see they seem to be marking the routine so it should be a lot more impactful on stage.
What’s a death drop?
what Conan’s dancer does.
Thanks!
The same again and again…..5 handsome boys and a lady in the middle(Tamta) who seems really tired…….Eleni had such an energy but unfortunately you can see in Tamtas face that she is tired and that they wiil deliver a polished show but nothing more…..Cyprus will not have the same success as last year….like Bulgaria..sorry
You just need to say something negative.. sorry
Accept others’ opinions and don’y get mad if you don’t agree with them, everyone has their own opinion, respect it-everybody agrees that Fuego and Eleni were way better!
Fuego was a crap song which most fans thought until she whipped her hair and done some choreography. Umm plz dont tell me fuego is a better song than replay cause it ain’t
Exactly, David is probably one of those people who hated Fuego when it was released but changed his mind when saw it on stage.
I have already seen Tamta’s performances.and she does not have Eleni’s charisma plus we have many similar songs like replay this year
Why are you compelled to say so much hate David???? you must secretly like it… don’t you????? It’s ok we won’t judge you… or at least we won’t judge you as harshly as you do… hope you feel better one day.
You need to see a psycholgist,i say my opinion, you say yours, that’s all!We have democracy, learn to accept others’ opinion.Cyprus will end up really low this year
There’s a big difference between stating opinions and spreading hate.
saying my opinion with which you don’t agree is not spreading hate….and yeah ok you are cypriot,we understood that haha
Totally accept it… it’s just your opinion. If it makes you feel good about your spreading hate… go for it. It’s also within our right to pull you up on it.
Which place of Cyprus are you from?Turkosia?
Oh please, you defended your opinions so well until Turkosia. No offense, it’s your right to say what you want.
You are the one the offends,is it bad to be Turkish???
Excuse you? My reply didn’t imply that being Turkish is bad.
Haha seriously, that was a comment just for the sake of hate. “She is tired”. Maybe because she was working?!
Accept others’ opinions and don’y get mad if you don’t agree with them, everyone has their own opinion, respect it-everybody agrees that Fuego and Eleni were way better!!!
But you haven’t seen Tamta on stage yet, how can you compare? You’re comparing a finished polished result (Fuego, Eurovision 2018) to something you haven’t seen yet. The comparison is nonsense, at least at this point.
I have already seen Tamta’s performances.and she does not have Eleni’s charisma plus we have many similar songs like replay this year
What are you going on about, she doesn’t look tired. Even if she was there could be multiple, conditional reasons why.
That particular hairstyle is a wig though 😛 Her actual hair is pretty long and light red.
IMO two, maybe three entries went to Eurovision to win last year: Cyprus and Bulgaria. Eleni obviously did very well. Bulgaria bothered me a lot, not the song itself which I found OK. Ridiculous staging that didn’t work well with the song, a ‘lab-made” group of artists, the background female vocals which did the hard work. I wonder how much money they spent. They probably spend the potential budget for 2019 as well, betting everything on one card. And yes, riding the cocktail of last year’s success is no guarantee for success. I don’t like Replay at the mo, but… Read more »
