Semi-Final 1 of Eurovision 2019 is only four weeks away. Usually we have to wait until the first semi to get our first glimpse of the postcards — those 50-second clips in between songs, aired as the crew set up the next performance. However, in a rather action-packed week, Israeli broadcaster KAN has supplied us with some sweet, sweet looks into the clips, which are, without question, among the Eurofans’ favourite parts of the show.

On Monday KAN hosted members of the press — including our very own Ron and Izhar — at a special press conference and tour, where they discussed several aspects of this year’s contest. They even let curious journalists see the arena in person for the very first time.

But one of the biggest talking points of the day was a 55-second video showing us bits of this year’s postcards. As previously discussed, the postcards are themed around dance and movement. The clips will show artists in different areas of Israel performing varying forms of dance. Some artists will be more involved in the actual dance than others, and the teaser we’ve had shows different skills and styles — from Israel’s Kobi working ballroom-style choreography to Spain’s Miki using footballs to display his talent. Nice kicks, babe!

Other highlights include Darude and Sebastian synchronising their shapes with the Israeli national gymnastics team, and Conan Osiris busting a move in green in a small crowd of dancers in white — he’s multi-talented y’all!

Social media reaction…

As ever, folks on social media had a lot to say about the revelation of the postcards, and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. The clip is fun, they’re very bright and the varying segments make the audience want to move. Many have compared it to 2014 — a highly regarded year when it comes to postcard quality. This is a huge compliment for KAN. Yass!

Naturally the memes have started arriving, and we’re loving them already:

What is your favourite year for postcards? Do this year’s clips beat 2014 for originality and style? Who’s postcard looks like your favourite so far? Let us know in the comments below!

It’s probably a good thing we will never get to host Eurovision in Australia. Our postcards would probably be the artists being attacked by various wildlife lol.

I was also thrilled by the song too, because what a great tribute to Israel’s first win.

The best postcards I’ve seen ever since I started watching Eurovision in 2011 are definitely those of 2014 and 2018. I think they will be fantastic this year, from what I saw in the teaser.

I agree it’s looking amazing, but why bash Cyprus? I’m sure they would do a great job too.

I agree these look the best since 2014 for creativity. They are combining what Portugal tried to do for tourism last year, but also incorporating some of the contestants personality and on-stage persona into each one. I think the audience will be wow’ed by the diversity of downtown Tel Aviv, to the snow at Mt. Hebron, to the deserts and caves of the south and the Dead Sea landscapes.

Last year postcards were pretty good…but they could have been better
Turismo de Portugal payed and they only showed Lisbon and not the coutries diversity. Not even a single clip on the snow only ocean and cliffs…that was bad.
