In recent weeks he’s performed at concerts, a train station and on various radio shows.

And yesterday Eliot gave his latest performance at the The Voice Belgique as an interval act. He did so under the watchful eye of Slimane, who was his coach when he was a contestant in 2018.

Eliot on The Voice Belgique

Belgium has two different formats of the show: The Voice Belgique for Wallonia and The Voice Van Vlaanderen for Flanders. Eliot performed on the Wallonian format.

In the performance itself, there was an intriguing staging set up. Eliot was accompanied by two drum players who played giant drums on stage and did some little dance moves. This could be a try out for the stage in Tel Aviv. The drums could give the performance some extra power in Tel Aviv. You can watch the performance below:

Eliot’s former coach Slimane was full of praise:

“I’m proud and happy for him and as I’m French I already know which country to vote for at Eurovision. Eliot has grown up and changed. Last year he was in a phase of finding himself and now he has become a beautiful butterfly.  Eliot’s song is really good and has real chances of coming very far. I strongly support Eliot”.

Eliot teased his mental preparation for Eurovision on the show: “I currently drink a lot of tea to relax. I’m not thinking too much about the pressure of the semi-final.”

Voice Belgique alumni to sing backing for Eliot at Eurovision 2019

The “Wake Up” hitmaker also revealed he’s relaxed because he’ll have two former Voice Belgique alumni on stage with him as backing vocalists.

What do you think of this performance. Would the big drums work on stage in Tel Aviv? Let us know in the comments below!

What the hell was that dull lifeless performance no personality at all ?

I don’t really think this looks like the actual staging for Eurovision. In fact, Eliot looks a bit robotic in some movements, which tells this hasn’t been rehearsed a lot, like this is just for a TV show. On the other hand those “you” in the chorus sounded better. Bringing newbie artists to Eurovision has both downsides and upsides. They have to handle a lot of pressure. I’m sure they know how to sing… Blanche, Sennek, Eliot… but there’s a lot pressure.

Great to see such a good team behind Eliot. I’m sure they will do everything to let him shine in Tel Aviv. I admit that it wasn’t good yet, but I kept in mind that this is ofc not the real staging but just a mini version of it. It’s good that they did this performance, now they can get feedback and work all weak points away. I have to say that I’m proud to see Eliot himself improving a lot within one week. And those backing vocalists sounded very good together with Eliot!

Good luck!!

Those movements are cringey but his voice has improved alot. His nerves are also getting under control. I see this doing just great.

These hand movements are so distracting indeed. And he is standing there like a deer in headlights.

Guess what, he just goes after Serbia on SF. And Nevena also raises her hand. What will the audience will think lol.

Staging: I dont like the drums. But I really like his armmovements and camerawork at the last chorus.
Singing: the first part wasnt like it should be but when chorus starts it becomes better. I think he blends good with his backingvocalists. I even like the change in lyrics at the endlast.

I love this song. I think his age, his performance, even his nervousness adds to the vulnerability in the song.
Personally, I like the arm gestures, not sure about the drums though, maybe they will look good in Tel Aviv
For me, this still feels like one of the most real entries this year. The interview he did in London shows him to be a lovely genuine guy and that has got to still count for something. Go Eliot!

He is improving with each performance. He will be ready for the semi-final.

I’m sure the staging will be very different. But Eliot looks so stiff on cameras, almost boring. This is Blanche case all over again. But unlike Blanche he doesn’t have a song like “City Lights” to save him from failure. Hopefully he’ll improve… within 2 weeks…

The song could be better, but it isn’t that bad. However, Eliot is far from being Loïc and that is something that may affect the Belgian result. Anyway, this song will be in my personal top 10.

That staging is a no-no. Get rid of the terrible drums and make a dark and mysterious staging with white and yellow lights kinda like Lisa Ajax and John Lundvik had. He also needs more confidence, now he kinda reminds me of Blanche just standing there awkwardly and making these weird hand movements. Right now I see Belgium as NQ but we’ll see what they will come up with.

blanche finished fourth btw – so it worked.

Blanche didn’t finish fourth , Citylights finished fourth. And it was an abomination for a song of that quality to lose to Amar pelos dois , Beautiful Mess and Hey mamma.

With Blanche the selection made sense because she had a unique voice! This year not so much

This will obviously not be the staging in Tel Aviv but I fear it will not be better.

I’m seeing a lot of negativity and it’s not that bad people. Sad to see all those downvotes to comments which are positive and respectful.
Eliot will do fine. He he can sing it well and he’s been improving in confidence.

It kinda hurts seeing his performance 🙁 The song is so good and Eliot is very likeable, but that performance doesn’t work for me at all. The act with the drums feels so 2005ish and the arm movements are not up there yet. I pray we get to see a total different approach in esc. The song will qualify though. It’s just too good to be ignored.

I agree and my first reaction when I saw the drums was that they probably want to test different things and gauge the reaction before the rehearsals start.

nice performance at the voice belgique, also interesting those 2 big drums

and he does get better and better live, the more he sings it live 🙂

It looks very amateurish now, doesn’t it? His vocals are below average and doesn’t help the weak chorus at all. He also looks very stiff on stage. Belgium, what happened to you seriously?

Honest opinion: They have a cute “just-left-school” boy – that’s enough staging for Eurovision all by itself. Anything more is just an unnecessary statement.
The raising of the fist makes it look like he’s trying to start a youth protest movement without any followers. Or it looks like whatever else he does with his fist. Gotta be careful with the metaphor.

Subject: Eliot. Cuteness level: 99%. And there are only a few boys, I would rate that high and only 2 boys who ever got a 100% from me. (And I am almost sure that one of those 2 will read this and know that I am talking about him lol and than he will either laugh or roll with his eyes, but truth is truth as Eliot sings!)

This staging is garbage
They need to stage this like it was in the music video , look at Azerbaijan 2017 and get inspired (I mean with the box , not the horsehead)

Belgium would never put that much effort into a stage tbh, unless the artist is given control, like with Loic.

Yeah , something like that.
Right now he is butchering it trying to say it in half a second instead of singing those two words.

Beautiful song (Studio version)
However, every time he performs the song live, it goes down on my ranking.

I bet this is staying in the semifinals, sorry

Same ! When the songs released , I had Belgium as will qualify
After the live performances , I became should qualify
With this staging it has gone down to may qualify (likely not)
