Sometimes you just want to sit around a campfire and listen to a guitar.
And at Latvia’s first rehearsal at Eurovision 2019, Carousel have converted that aesthetic for the stage.
This feels like an intimate jazz band performance. The band sound fantastic. The song is pleasant.
The performance appears to start at night but then dawn comes into the final moment as the lights warm up.
Certainly, today’s rehearsal had more progression than the performance at Supernova.
But while this is a classy, beautiful performance, it is a quiet moment.
Sometimes you need a change of pace during a semi-final and Carousel offer that.
However, in the first rehearsals we’ve seen so far, this did not have as strong an impact as others.

Wow, lots of people going for outer space backgrounds this year, huh?
In any case, I think what they got going on is actually pretty nice. I’m pleasantly surprised.
However, I don’t think it’s enough to qualify still.
I think this has better chances by being simple, as it is surrounded by craziness.
I’d love to see them go through, but I feel like that’s unlikely. Still, I wish them the best.
As long they haven’t changed too much from the gorgeous Supernova performance, this is all about cinematography and camerawork, so I’ll wait for the second rehearsal. It’s very respectable and soothing, but not exactly moving. In some ways, they’re in Iriao’s place, a quality entry but with a vibe that doesn’t suit the environment surrounding it.
Boring.
I am really enjoying the vibe and the staging, I think it complements the song really well. This is definitely mood music, it will depend on how many people are feeling the mood at the live running. But it definitely stands out and not for a bad reason.
It’s cool that Carousel are just doing what works for them and not blindly chasing votes. I think they’ll come out of this none-the-worse.

Oh, it looks really cute on stage! It seems that they managed to keep the magical atmosphere of the NF performance, but unfortunately I think it’s not enough to make them get to the final, which truly saddens me. I hope they’ll prove me wrong!
No doubt that Carousel are great performers.
Just, That Night is weak, might be similar to Martina Barta, a good performance with lots of jury points but an absolute downfall with the public.
Latvia had so much potential after Aminata, shame they couldnt seize the moment!

Since Sobral winning, Baltics are so bad. They really thought that artsy fartsy style is here to stay. No, the lazy artsy songs are not wanted anymore, and everybody hates Sobral.

My sister who isn’t a ESC fan was shown 2017 ka Grandfinal recap , she Chuckled out loud when Portugal came on.
Someone has to be eliminated, so… #awkward. Like her outfit, though.
