Kate Miller-Heidke gets grilled by Iceland Music News

The intrepid team from Iceland Music News caught up with Australia’s Kate Miller-Heidke. The down under diva was asked for her opinion on Hatari and she confessed she likes looking at their bodies, feeling “attraction and repulsion at the same time”. Same. Kate also gave a very diplomatic answer to a very uncomfortable question about Israel and politics. (Robyn)

I love how and what Kate answered. Humour paired with intelligence and attitude.

I have a crush on Kate Miller-Heidke. That interview, that interview. I don’t take the Icelandic interviewer seriously, very comedic indeed.

Whoever you are, do keep your agenda out of our celebration. Eurovision is a multi-national, multi-cultural celebration of music and diversity, open to everyone to enjoy should they want to – even to people from countries like Brazil, Indonesia and the US, with definite proof of posters on this terrific website. Do not hijack the spirit of Eurovision. Eurovision is meant to be enjoyed. We don’t need or want toxicity. It’s a once a year celebration, we want to show what our countries! have to offer in terms of musical and artistic talent. Eurovision goes beyond what you see on… Read more »

Kate continues to be dope. Iceland 2019 is so very different from Iceland 1999. Sisters are getting mad slept-on, so hold on to your hats when Big 5 rehearsals start. And man, of all the American celebrities to tip their cap to Eurovision, why Elon Musk? At least Will Ferrell is chill.

Gosh….. Icelanders seems to be so bored – that they COME to Israel (and welcomed!!) while provoking (with their delusional comments and pseudo journalistic questions) – All just to get a “kick of Adrenaline”……. Ha ha… Hilarious 🙂 🙂 I will buy them a ticket to an exciting roller-coaster 🙂 🙂

To me anything Icelandic in this competition this year reminds me of Borat movies.
They seem to be taking themselves so serious that you just gotta laugh at some point.

How can people still hate S!sters?! They’re so good, I feel such emotion from their performance.

Una

I don’t hate them and I did’t feel any emotion the two times that I heard the song. I don’t like the message of the song and the lyrics don’t have anything special. The metaphors are cringe. I don’t like the way they deliver it. They don’t look natural at all. Personal opinion.

Life in Gaza is a direct result of them being governed by HAMAS (a worldwide recognized TERRORIST group). Therefore – Address your grievances directly to them – NOT to the VICTIMS (!!!) of their terror : e.g. Israel – A Free and Democratic society (women in the work force, dress as they like, free to marry who they love, as well as Israel being an open and gay friendly society). The Blockade is hence REQUIRED and will continue till HAMAS abandons their chart (literally) to destroy the state of Israel. Capicci dear??

My dear, we are not interested in your copy and paste comments. We are a bunch of people who loves to watch and wait every year this “kitschy song contest” because it makes us happy and we learn a lot of things from this cultural event. We are not here to talk about political dramas because neither me, you, or other people on this website have the knowledge and the skills to judge or make sentences about any country’s political issues. We didn’t when it came to Azerbaijan, we didn’t when it came to Ukraine and we will not do… Read more »

And stop playing the part “I am a Social Justice Hero/Warrier and you all are just a bunch of insensible monsters without humanity and I’m here to show my thesis”. IGNORANT.

I agree with you, La Signora. Eurovision is the most fab event of the year when and where dozens of countries come together to celebrate.

La Signora

Thank you, I appreciate that. There are some country which I don’t like the government but Eurovision is my opportunity to know more about the actual culture and the actual people who live there. The music, the languages, trough this “kitschiness” I’ve learned a lot 🙂

Una

Una

Tell me about it, La Signora :). In between the way the politics affect real people, each side with their own story, and geography, and languages, and neighbours’ “battles” and banter, whether a country or another uses their ethnicity in music. Nearly nude bodies and crazy props and bad fashion. And so on and so forth. And the fun of kitsch. And the love and h8 and the solidarity. All for fun and learning. I LOVE EUROVISION! ELET THE MUSIC PLAY!!! HAPPY EUROVISION EVERYONE!!! IT’S JUST STARTED!! 🙂

Plus, it’s harmless “kitsch”. We can’t get all too serious about everything in life, though some people do but it’s still harmless. 🙂

Kate’s interview is utterly awesome. Australia’s entry was something I wasn’t able to listen to at first and now it’s reaching my top ten. I am falling in love with her by the minute.

Una

I could appreciate a bit of Zero Gravity at first with Australia in my top 10 SF1. Then I got to love it when I saw the first rehearsal. My utter dislike of Australia in Eurovision (based on what I think biased jury love and the mess of an entry that qualified in 2018) has faded after that first rehearsal and now I count Australia among my potential winners of Eurovision 2019. ’nuff said!

They’re just awful.
Doing very bad PR for their country, and are just a big turn off.
Why have they even agreed on arriving in Israel?
Go back and boycott, and leave us all alone.
They’re losing votes by the seconds.

Kate didn’t really mind the question, she answered very logically, art is about expression and saying what you want to say, plus, they’re still one of the contenders to win

For as much as I respect Kate, Aussie entries are very well trained in PR. Believe me, I can see that.
