She is the queen from North Macedonia returning to Eurovision with unfinished business. Tamara Todevska knocked her first rehearsal out of the park. Gorgeous in green, the songstress hit every note in one of the best first rehearsals this year. She then caught up with our William and Deban following her rehearsal.

Tamara Todevska interview

Tamara was thrilled with the rehearsal. She expected it to be good but it exceeded even her expectations. Her dress is emerald green to symbolise healing and recovery, tying in with the message of the song.

The idea of the staging was that one Tamara is not enough, so they put six more. Tamara thinks the staging will be improved and ironed out before we see the final product. “Everything is going in the right direction,” according to Tamara and the team is excited about their package. The song has been well received in North Macedonia and Tamara has received a lot of great feedback about “Proud”.

Tamara believes she is wiser and calmer after becoming a mother of two. The whole experience is not new for her and she felt this was the right moment for her Eurovision return.

Tamara also spoke about her sister and Eurovision 2014 artist Tijana. Tijana is featured in the music video but hasn’t made the trip to Tel Aviv. She stayed in Belgrade to look after Tamara’s daughter instead. Tamara spoke to Tijana over the phone and her sister was in tears, proud of Tamara and her first rehearsal. She certainly isn’t the only one to echo those sentiments following the rehearsal.

“Proud” can relate to many groups of people. The visual depiction is of women but the message can relate to many groups of people. Tamara says, “Be proud and never hide your greatness.”

What do you think of “Proud” and North Macedonia’s first rehearsal? Can Tamara Todevska make it to the final this time? Let us know in the comments below.

I have never been a fan of their songs or stagings but Proud is an excellent ballad. If the juries should be considered as professionals, they must support the best entry that North Macedonia has ever send
