It’s thanks to her that the Eurovision bubble has moved to Tel Aviv this year. And now, Netta Barzilai has given us a new anthem to sing a long to, with the release of her new single “Nana Banana”.
Slightly more mid-tempo compared to her previous tracks, “Nana Banana” once again sees the “Toy” hit-maker bringing her personality and positive energy into her music.
Lyrically, Netta is comfortable doing her own thing: “I was sitting all day long in my pajama / Eating peanut butter jelly with my mama…Baby it’s so comfortable / In my bubble I stay”.
Other people might be trying to mould her into something else, but she makes it known that she does things her own way: “They keep calling my name / I’m not hearing nothing / NaNa BaNaNa / I do what I wanna”. Y’all hear sumn? Cuz Netta doesn’t!
Netta – “Nana Banana”
Netta will perform her new track for the first time this Sunday 12 May at the Zappa Club in Tel Aviv, one of the most important live music venues in the country. There are three Zappa Clubs in Israel, with the other two located in Jerusalem and Herzliya.
Earlier this week it was also revealed that Netta will perform “Nana Banana” during the Eurovision 2019 grand final. The star shared a small clip from the rehearsal room earlier today, and it seems there’ll be bananas aplenty during this performance.
And that won’t be the only time we see her during this year’s shows. The Israeli songstress will open the first semi-final on Tuesday 14 May, singing her breakout Eurovision-winning hit “Toy”.
Netta – “Nana Banana” Lyrics
I was sitting all day long in my pajama
Eating peanut butter jelly with my mama
Always fighting with myself just for the drama
For the drama
For the drama
I see pushi pushi people all around now
But my belly belly’s telling me to run now
They keep asking me to shine just like the sun now
Like the sun now
But I don’t wanna
Baby it’s so comfortable
In my bubble I stay
Always running away
Cuz baby it’s so comfortable
They keep calling my name
I’m not hearing nothing
NaNa BaNaNa
I do what I wanna
I keep picturing myself as if I’m rising
And I’m Fanta Fanta Fanta fantasising
Boy I take my time I’m not apologising
Clock goes ticki tack on my belly on my back
Baby it’s so comfortable
In my bubble I stay
Always running away
Cuz baby it’s so comfortable
They keep calling my name
I’m not hearing nothing
Cuz baby its so comfortable
Baby it’s so comfortable
Don’t save me
If you see me sleeping don’t wake me
What you doing lately don’t ask me I know you think
I’m wasting my time
NaNa BaNaNa
I do what I wanna

J’adore!
Netta…thank you for reminding us that the real winner of Eurovision was ?Doron Medalie…Doron, come back!…your diva antics were justified and right on the nose…apologies for thinking otherwise
she’s trying too hard with this “waka waka” image, imo.
toy was a bop with a message, she needs more of that and less nonsensical bs
Nana Banana Fofana Osama Bin Laden Brown!
Netta is a genius…
Let’s be honest – the lyrics are quite weak and silly, but somehow I found them super relatable at my current state of mind (aka super depressed). Also melody is catchy and fun. I say this get’s 8/10 and I’m listening again.
My favourite of her three songs is always Bassa Sababa, let’s see in the future. I would like a featuring with Static and Ben-El, just sayin’
How many times we will hear NaNa in the Grand Final show? Malta, San-Marino, Netta.
I wouldn’t bet on San Marino being there, though I wouldn’t mind it.
The winning song was horrendous. This is just as bad. I’m sorry but I have no time at all for this artist.
And still…. you are here commenting 🙂 🙂 – Bye
Yeah, comments are for commenting. If he doesn’t like it, it’s a place where he can say it. It’s not a “praise section”.
Stating you have no time for her and still clicking on the article, it’s a cry for attention imo
