For Iceland’s Hatari, it involved doughnuts. But Greece’s Katerine Duska has just upped the stakes when it comes to weird questions.
Speaking to our William on last night’s orange carpet at the Eurovision 2019 opening ceremony, the “Better Love” songstress revealed the weirdest question she’s been asked thus far.
“If my prop on stage resembles a condom… Yeah!”
Referring back to our review of her first rehearsal, we can confirm that her staging does not look like any form of contraception.
Our Angus writes: “The stage is set in shades of pink, focused around a large prop that resembles an egg, and with frequent flowery outbursts”.
On her look, Katerine jokes “I woke up like this”.
And while she may look like a Greek goddess, she did, in fact, have some assistance. “This took a team, an amazing team. I love them, they’re my glam team”.
It draws inspiration from multiple sources — historical, mythical and theatrical. “I think it’s definitely Grecian inspired, yes. A bit Aphrodite, definitely. But I think I could just be inserted in our staging very easily in this”.
Since being unveiled as Greece’s rep back in the spring, Katerine has steadily risen in the oddsmakers’ rankings. She thinks it’s “great” that they have her as a favourite to win the first semi, but she’s not taking it too seriously.
“To be honest, I don’t really pay attention to the bookies. I think it’s kind of weird how they’re defining artists’ potential so easily. I think it’s just for fun. So, I’m just very focused. It doesn’t matter if I’m at the top or the bottom, I’m still going to give them my all”.
