The Eurovision medics have been kept busy in recent weeks. Cyprus’ Tamta injured her back in the spring and Australia’s Kate Miller-Heidke did damage to her foot during the pre-party season. The most recent casualty is Ireland’s Sarah McTernan.

Last week she was in and out of the doctors with a wisdom tooth infection. But you’d never tell from her appearance on the Eurovision 2019 orange carpet last night.

The “22” singer tells our William that she’s well on the mend.

“I’m on antibiotics and really strong painkillers. And I’m doing better than I was, so, all is good. As long as I’m better than yesterday we’re going well”.

But what was her reaction when the pain first struck?

“I was like ‘this is a bit of a nuisance’. I didn’t panic. It was just a bit sore. Like ‘a lads, not today’. But I’m really glad it happened this week as opposed to next week. It’s all done and it’s all sorted now. I have my pain meds. And the medic centre at the Eurovision were absolutely incredible. They sorted me out. So, it’s all good”.

While Sarah is dismissive of her ordeal now, she actually had to visit the doctor on the day before and the morning of her second rehearsal. Thankfully, there was no need to call in San Marino’s Serhat. The “Say Na Na Na” crooner is a fully qualified dentist.

Away from her dental woes, Sarah reveals who designed her fabulous frock: “Eamonn McGill, a designer from Dublin. He hooked me up”.

Her Eurovision performance revolves around a 1950s-style diner, complete with some milkshakes. But what is her favourite flavour? After some thought, the Irish singer confirms “chocolate”.

Sarah is a breath of fresh air. I love her positivity- no excuses or moaning even though she has been in pain. I hope she qualifies.

I hope she qualifies, it’s a catchy song. The ceremony was great, I wish were even longer. I watch half last night, and half today, so I don’t understand when people complain was too long. Presenters were nice even with Noa’s mistakes, everything was relaxed and prefer that instead of perfect robots. Verka’s jokes are getting old, and to give alcohol to Noa that was pregnant… Ukraine had no money for Maruv, but has for Verka? And politics continue “underground”. Iceland, Australia, The Netherlands didn’t wanted to speak to Russian media. Say what you want, but it’s fair enough if… Read more »

I don’t think that Ukraine paid for Verka, it could have been EBU or KAN or both. Noa’s mistakes were so “basic”, she must have been told the names in that thing that goes into the ear to receive instructions from the production team. It is very disappointing IMO that she didn’t bother to learn the name of the acts and the titles of the songs, announcing acts/songs was part of her job.
