She’s one of four returning artists competing at Eurovision 2019. So, Serbia’s Nevena Božović is well used to red carpets, including those of the orange variety.
At Sunday’s Eurovision 2019 opening ceremony, the “Kruna” singer brought a chic look that wouldn’t appear out of place on Game of Thrones. Our William asks if that’s the look she’s going for.
“Oh, thank you! Maybe, something similar I’m looking like”.
However, the singer’s reference point is actually slightly more old school. “I like black. And to be like this. This is like Whitney Houston, you know “I Have Nothing”. So, I like it”.
The former Moje 3 member sings of a crown and wears one both on stage and in her official music video. Where was it on Sunday? “I didn’t want to have a kruna tonight, so the crown. So, this is something special for me tonight.”

Of course, Nevena’s has other important things in her mind — namely qualifying for the Eurovision 2019 grand final. Is she confident of making it out of Tuesday’s first semi?
“I’m thinking just of my performance and my third rehearsal for tomorrow, so that’s the most important thing for me”.
If her earlier rehearsals are anything to go by, she shouldn’t have too much to worry about. Here’s what our Angus wrote after her second run through.
The main development in Serbia’s performance has been work on the whirlpool. There was a first run fumble were the effect was overlaid on a wide shot, but that was fixed in subsequent runs. Nevena now appears to cast the whirlpool into the sky and then take full control over it, banishing evil emotions. This is fierce. This alludes to Frozen. This is fabulous. The juries are going to eat it up and televoters will not be far behind”.
What do you think of “Kruna”? Will it be second time lucky for Nevena? Let us know in the comments below.
