I just love that picture of all the semi final 2 qualifiers together, its so joyful! I wonder if there is a photo of all the 43 or however many it was entrants this year, together as a group? I would love to see that.

It is the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest tomorrow. Please, let’s vote not for person, that was chosen and actively promoted by EBU -Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands. It is profitable for EBU. So, please, let’s choose the WORTHY winner! #eurovision #ESC

Semifinal 2’s results were quite pleasant. A better outcome than of course Tuesday’s show (at least for my favorites). Russia and Sweden are expected, likewise for the Netherlands. In fact, we got a clean sweep with all the songs that performed back to back in show’s last third, which was a surprise.

Sweden’s live performance didn’t match the perfection that was John Lundvik’s national final show from Melodifestivalen. It could be technical but it wasn’t as smooth as back in February.

Considering the fact when Netta won last year people like myself who wanted Cyprus to win where annoyed that their favourites didn’t do well, hopefully on Saturday we vote for the song that will represent all of Europe, and do us proud. Hopefully we put all Politics aside and borders aside, and the country that attracts us the best will take home the crown, let’s vote right, let’s vote fairly, and may the best artist and country who are the most liked, win the contest fairly.

Malta would do OK, I reckon. It’s catchy as hell, and she can sing. I’m more worried about the former favourites. Switzerland let me down in several ways, just like Cyprus, Greece and Iceland. Norway will go through for a top ten; catchy enough AND they can sing. Netherlands, Australia, Russia and Sweden are the ones to watch out for; they have the best voices.

Just a little conspiracy to add on: Israel 1st in 1978, 1998, 2018 – winning every 20 years
Iceland 2nd in 1999, 2009, … – could Iceland be 2nd every 10 years?

How many breaks are there in the show?

The Eurovision lottery splits it into First Half and a Second Half. But i think the show itself is actually divided in 3 parts, from a television broadcast point of view, no?

Not necessarily. It just probably means that it can’t win the whole thing, i.e. it didn’t win or come close to winning the semi. It’s a fantastic show opener though, even if it blows its chances at the contest.

Also, winning positions lately have been either end of first half, which bodes well for The Netherlands, and the 17-22 positions, boding well for Iceland, France, Italy? Surprising that songs at the very end didn’t really win lately, but that might be just bad luck: being at the end should be quite good. So songs still in play:
Netherlands, Iceland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Spain

Doesn’t bode well for Italy. They won’t win singing from position 22 after Netta having won from 22 last year. History repeats itself, even at Eurovision, but not 2 years in a row.

seems like Azerbaijan and France lost steam. The rehearsals can’t really tell much if most people can’t see them. I thought those two countries had killer stagings. I mean…they are good, but not winning material. Azerbaijan has a very good first minute, then it loses me and gets a bit flat. France is very professional, but at the same time, it’s something that we have seen several times over the past few years. and there’s Australia. The rehearsals put Kate in the bookies’ top 10, but she only got into the top 3 after the performance. Anyway, I still think… Read more »

Not sure how the running order will look like yet, but I believe having done research on some previous draws as well other factors (genres, tempo of song, male/female, staging clashes) and think the EBU would make a ‘show’ in this order: ———–1st half———– 01. Sweden 02. Albania 03. Cyprus 04. Germany 05. Malta 06. North Macedonia 07. Czech Republic 08. Slovenia 09. Greece 10. Russia 11. Denmark 12. The Netherlands 13. San Marino ———–2nd half———– 14. I don’t think they’ll punish a relatively strong song (Sweden) by putting it first. It will be something that has little chance anyway, maybe Czech Republic?
Also, Belarus, UK and Estonia are not getting those superb late slots. Switzerland, France, Iceland, more likely.
