Eurovision 2019 is moments away from taking centre stage. Twenty-six acts are set to battle it out in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest, in what is looking to be a hotly-contested race.

Yesterday, we asked who you think should win the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. The floor was open for our readers to have their say and choose their winner.

Our readers cast a massive 61,676 votes in about 24 hours and we can finally reveal the results.

We say congratulazioni to Mahmood, who has taken out the poll with 16.01% of the total votes (9,876 votes). His song “Soldi” has mobilised you and left you shook.

Odds-on favourite to win Duncan Laurence from The Netherlands has placed second on your poll, with 15.51% of the results (9,564 votes). France’s Bilal Hassani has received 14.82% of the vote to reach 3rd place in our poll (9,140 votes). It’s definitely a tight race at the top.

The results aren’t without some level of controversy – with the poll being manipulated to favour our friends from Germany, S!sters with “Sister”. The song received almost 10,000 votes shortly after opening the poll, more than ten times the nearest competitor. Because of the inconsistency in these results, we have disallowed a large portion of their results.

Poll results: Who will win Eurovision 2019?

  1. Italy: Mahmood – “Soldi”: 16.01% (10,165 votes)

That’s when People can vote for their own countries in polls like this. To many Italians voting for their own country. I have tryed to tell People that polls like this does not mean anything. Well see fpr yourself. NR. 1 NORWAY IN ESC TELEVOTES (291 POINTS) – NR. 11 (541 VOTES) IN THIS POLL NR. 2. NETHERLAND IN ESC TELEVOTES (261 POINTS) – NR. 2 (9 564 VOTES) IN POLL NR. 3 ITALY IN ESC TELEVOTES (253 POINTS) – NR. 1 (10 165 VOTES) IN POLL NR. 4 RUSSIA IN ESC TELEVOTES (244 POINTS) – NR. 17 (368 VOTES)… Read more »

And so, in the end, Duncan prevailed 1 and Mahmood 2nd. However, if the hype around Duncan’s Arcade had equally been extended to Mahmood’s Soldi, which was polling incredibly well. it may have been the reverse. So happy for Mahmood. Let’s not forget that 27 points separate 1 and 2.

BUT BYE THE EUROPEAN PEOPLE NORWAY OVERSHADDOWED ITALY, COMING IN AS NR 1 IN TELEVOTES WITH 291 POINTS AGAINS ITALYS 253 POINTS. SO IF IT WAS UP TO THE PEOPLE NORWAY WOULD HAVE WON BEFORE NETHERLANDS AND THAN THE ITALIANS.

Dear DDD not only Soldi but the album Gioventù bruciata is having a succes in non italian charts… a song and an album in Italian ! Soldi is appreciated also in the Netherlands ! Why are you so angry with mahmood ? He’s happy with his second place and never talked bad about the other contenders or the results, he’s having a big success, and we all know a poll made in this blog doesn’t represent necessarily the real results… but arcade and soldi arrived very close and so the poll wasn’t so wrong… 26 points of difference are few… Read more »

A few minutes before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, there is already a first success for Mahmood: “Soldi” won the Composer Award, the prize for the best composition, one of the three that make up the Marcel Bezençon Award, the award named after the first director-general of the EBU and established in 2002 on the initiative of Richard Herrey, member of the Herreys, winners in 1984 and Christer Bjorkman, former participant (1992) and today great head of Melodifestivalen and supervisor of the show on behalf of Israeli TV.

May the best entry win! Good luck to all the twenty-six contestants. Show starts in 5 minutes. Fasten your seat belt, grab a beer and enjoy the show!

In the UK our entry is tipped to do really well. I personally don’t agree and its pretty obvious that most of Europe are on my side. I’m really fed up with hype it’s getting. Am I missing something.

This is a very likely scenario. Italy winning without winning the jury or the televote. Possible jury winner: Netherlands. Possible televote winner: Switzerland.

This is going to be such a good night, where music is all that matters tonight, when voting for your favourite countries I hope that pure talent prevails and gets full recognition, and that we vote for a song contest, and that’s it. Let’s vote right tonight.
Greetings from the UK.

Amazing. How were they able to separate the real votes from those 10,000 troll votes?

Can we talk how biased the official Eurovision youtube channel is? They seem to be selectively promoting select few competitors.

It should be a level playing field where each country/performer gets the same number of videos and posted at the same time!

So do most of the ESC-themed blogs. They look for where the buzz is and talk about those countries almost exclusively, especially in the last two weeks. So bad songs get more hype than deserved, great songs get all but ignored and some songs get so overhyped they are ruined.

I’m portuguese, and Italy is one of the few countries that always send beautiful songs without losing the italian culture.

italian comercial music is good because italians don’t try to copy american songs. While countries like Estonia sends some pop garbage, italy sends true italian songs
