As Eurovision season reached its climax in Tel Aviv a week ago, we almost let the new music released by Eurovision alumni pass us by. But not quite! Sweden’s Benjamin Ingrosso, who danced all of us off back in Lisbon last year, has been one of the busiest of our former Eurovision stars.

He’s released three new tracks over the past few months, two of which feature on a deluxe version of his album Identification, and another which is a duet with fellow Swede Felix Sandman. Take a listen to Benjamin’s collection of offerings and let us know your thoughts about the tracks in the comments. You can even vote in our poll to tell us which of the songs is your favourite!

“1989”

The first of Benjamin’s new releases is “1989”, which throws back to happier times when 21-year-old Benjamin was negative eight years old. Much like “Dance You Off”, the track is a chilled out pop song that draws on synth to compliment Benjamin’s unmistakable vocals. It’s a fun song which is guaranteed to get stuck in your head!

“Fancy”

The second of Benjamin’s solo offerings is about a girl who may be too “Fancy” even for Benjamin, as her “daddy is famous” and she “flies to the moon on vacation”. I mean, goals? The track is in keeping with Benjamin’s signature pop sound, with the chorus of this track packing a particular punch. He knows the formula and he sticks to it, y’all!

“Happy Thoughts” (with Felix Sandman)

Benjamin’s duet with Sandman, “Happy Thoughts”,  is accompanied by a music video that features the pair strutting along the Swedish skyline, throwing two fingers up to the sky as they lament about getting over an ex. We’ve all been there, right? The song is about a relationship that was destined to fail, but they just can’t seem to forget about it.

Which of the new songs is your favourite? Are you bopping to one of these new tracks, or is “Dance You Off” still at the top of your playlist? Let us know in the comments!

Everything Benjamin touches is absolute gold tbh, even more so when Felix tags along.

I won’t jump on this train here, I will just rate the songs and don’t care about the fact, that it is Benjamin or Sweden or whatever. 1) “1989”: It is a quite cool track, very easy-listening and I love the vibe. The topic and lyrics are good! 2) “Fancy”: Also chilling, but this track feels a bit too monotonous to me. 3) “Happy Thoughts”: Okay, now I know why people complain about the genre being the same. The songs are really similiar. I love the arrangements of the 2 different voices here. The beat is a little too messy… Read more »

This comment section is actual proof that people didn’t necessarily dislike Dance You Off, they just didn’t like Benjamin Ingrosso. Take Dance You Off and give it to Mikolas Joseph and watch everyone say it should’ve won. He already apologized for the reaction video you guys, time to move on ya?

How many outside of this blog actually knew there was a video? It’s not exactly seen by millions.. And how many apart from anti Sweden mob on here actually gave a damn about the video`? And how many apart from this site actually remembers the video? people barely remember last week, yet alone last year. that¨s the problem with fan comments: They think everyone cares about ESC as much as they do. That they spend the time watching every single clip. Most people don’t care about ESC. They certainly don’t get offended over a video clip about someone being asked… Read more »

I think that Benjamin should focus more on quality instead of quantity, because all his songs above are pretty forgettable, tbh.

D. None of the above.

Can we please not have to hear about Benjamin Ingrosso anymore? As if the EBU and Christer Björkman trying to push him down our throats all of 2018 and even this year wasn’t enough already.

What is the point of focusing only on Benjamin? Many Melfest stars like Wiktoria, Robin Bengtsson and Måns Zelmerlöw released some songs that are way better than those.
