Mikolas Josef doesn’t sit still. After finishing in sixth place with “Lie To Me” at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, he’s released one catchy song after another – first “Me Gusta” and then “Abu Dhabi”. And now, the star from the Czech Republic is back with a new bop, “Acapella”. Let us tell you, it’s getting hot in here!
This new track follows the Latin-influenced music trend of recent years. Indeed, the self-composed Spanglish song has summer hit written all over it. Enrique Iglesias better watch out!
Featuring Panamanian-Canadian singer Fito Blanko and Mexican-American singer Frankie J, who add even more international flavour to the mix, “Acapella” is definitely a track that would fit perfectly on the playlists of radio stations across Europe and the globe.

The music video that came along with the song was directed, scripted and edited by the singer himself. The video starts off in the golden hour of sunset. We see a blonde “bella” (referencing a beautiful woman) on the beach, while Mikolas is filming her.
As the Eurovision alum leans against his car strumming a guitar, he opens the song with a few lines in Spanish to say how much his bella means to him:
No pensaba enamorarme hasta que te conocí
Daría todo pa’ conquistarte, aprendo español por ti
I wasn’t thinking of falling in love until I met you
I would give everything to conquer you, I learn Spanish for you
Mikolas continues to sing her praises in the chorus: “Hello bella / It’s like I knew you forever / Hard to keep it all together / I’m so into you bella / I can sing it in acapella”.
As the music video continues, the sun goes down and nighttime takes over. Mikolas naturally takes the party to the bar. With Latin-American flags hanging from the ceiling, there’s a true party atmosphere in the air as Mikolas and his dancers throw down some moves and dance the night away.
Sun, beach, waves, palm trees, flamenco dancing and a party atmosphere – the tropical music video fits the overall vibe of the song perfectly.
At the end, the track finally hits the criteria laid out in the song title: “Acapella” goes…acapella. With everyone clapping along and singing in unison, this is the moment where it’s clear that the song was made to get people to come together and dance their troubles away. No doubt we’ll all be trying to brush up on our Spanish in order to sing along with Mikolas over the upcoming summer months.
Summer hit – check!
