He’s the runner-up of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. And buoyed by the success of “Soldi”, Mahmood is now touring across the country. Last weekend he performed at the well-known Mi Ami Festival in Milan. Established in 2005, it’s now one of the most important festivals in the country.

It’s on wonder Mahmood is busier than ever. “Soldi” has become one of the biggest songs of the year in Italy. Cracking up more than 90 million views on YouTube, the song has been met with global acclaim. It keeps climbing the charts all over the world. The three times platinum-certified track still sits atop the Israeli iTunes charts and also leads Spotify charts in Israel, Lithuania and Malta.

It’s also proven to be very popular in Iceland, Cyprus, Estonia, Sweden, Greece, and Switzerland. And Mahmood has also landed at number eight on the Billboard Digital Songs Chart in the US. Nothing but good news for Mahmood!

Just last weekend, the Sanremo winner performed at the Mi Ami Festival in Milan. The diverse selection of artists marries several cultural and musical styles. Most importantly, it’s a platform to celebrate the domestic music scene.

Other than “Soldi”, Mahmood also performed songs from his studio album “Gioventù Bruciata“. Among them was “Calipso”, the Charlie Charles pinned track he features on (we previously reviewed it here).

Throughout the summer season, he’s been a busy boy and recently had concerts in Bologna and Florence. More concerts are coming up, including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland on July 8, which also features British pop star Rita Ora!

What do you think about Mahmood’s latest achievements? Has he kickstarted a long-lasting career? Let us know in the comments down below!

Congrats to Mahmood! Well deserved. I so love ‘Soldi’ and ‘Calipso’. I think he will continue to have an amazing career. Could go really global if he puts out a Spanish language album…. I think he would really appeal in Latin America.

He is talented, but shy. Just don’t be shy! It’s cute only for dogs.

Agree, he is quite shy and that is why he is not so charismatic…

He’s very charismatic: did you watch his exhibition in the final ? Do you really think he lacks of charisma ? His exhibition was powerful, as it’s the same when he sings in his concerts (I’ve been to one in Italy): charisma 100%. And also when he is with his friends he’s very open and nice, he’s not introvert, he’s a reference point for many people and when he’s in a room all the eyes are fixed on him. How do you call that ? Then, yes he is also a little bit shy and misterious but it doesn’t mean… Read more »

“Soldi” has gone Platinum Record in Switzerland some days ago.
Btw, the most interesting thing is that the whole EP “Gioventù Bruciasta” is doing very well across Europe.

it’s actually not certified yet in switzerland (he doesn’t figure in their certifications website on schweizer hitparade) but he has indeed passed the 15,000 copies threshold required for a platinum single certification for italian-language music so his label can request the plaque

When I saw him in Sanremo I understood he was a real artist and I’m so happy for him, I’m sure in a few time he’ll be a famous international artist !
And to be number 8 in Billboard Digital Songs Charts for an italian singer who sings in Italian it’s incredible…
Mahmood we are so proud of you !
