She’s a Belgian force of nature who generated a lot of buzz in 2018 with her dark art-pop number “A Matter of Time”. And now the avant-garde artist Sennek returns with “Endlessly”.

The artist formerly known as Laura Groseneken has been teasing the cover art of her new single on Instagram for several days, whetting the appetites of Eurofans who still think of their girl long after the curtain fell in Lisbon.

Sennek wrote the song during an uncertain period in her life following the end of a 10-year relationship. She says that it “describes the feeling of being happy and sad at the same time” — no doubt reflecting the relief that comes with moving on…mixed with the despair of letting go. But this track definitely isn’t what you’d expect a break up song to sound like.

Despite the sad topic, the song itself is an uptempo track that may well make you want to dance. The uplifting backing vocals, the plucky strings and Sennek’s sultry voice all carry a positivity to them. It’s tough to say goodbye, so why now forget about it for three and a half minutes?

Her voice carries the message well and it’s clear she sings from a place of sincerity. The strings and some digital production flourishes create a rather pensive atmosphere. She sings. She slays. She thinks.

Speaking of her new single, Sennek said

“My life had completely changed. I was single again, sold my house and gave up my job to focus on my music. I was very sad at the time and felt lost after my break-up. It isn’t easy to deal with after a relationship of 10 years, but with this song I tried to do it the best possible way.”

Just like this year’s Belgian entry the studio cut was one of my favourites. Likewise the live performances were a pale imitation. Such a waste for Belgium..Very happy she is still making records. Best of luck to you.
