Danish singer-songwriter Tim Schou is on a creativity train that doesn’t stop trailblazing. Since fronting A Friend In London and finishing in the top five at Eurovision 2011, he has bagged an independent solo record deal, written a Melodifestivalen hit and released gems like “Novocaine” “Acapella” and “Nirvana” just to name a few. And now, he’s dropped the new music video for his latest single “Beat Around The Bush”.
We’re not going to beat around the bush – the song is so now! Sunkissed with a reggae beat and some ska undertones, “Beat Around The Bush” is the perfect cocktail to accompany summer 2019.
As with much of Schou’s back catalogue, this track is a perfect fit for heavy rotation on the radio. Scandi-pop and Caribbean-cool at the same time, this isn’t an easy fusion to actualise.

California serves as the backdrop for the music video. Opening with Schou dunking his face in what has now been confirmed to be baking soda, this video sees Schou in a number of guises.
He dances in sunflower fields and goes topless in many shots, revealing a toned physique. It is obvious that our favourite Dane has been working out!
Cinematographer Lukas Valentin joins Tim’s longtime collaborator Nik Shaw in filming this visual parody. Yes, this is the Hollywood dream as imagined by many, and played perfectly by Tim Schou.
Speaking exclusively to wiwibloggs, Tim explains further:
I actually wrote “Beat Around The Bush” with another artist in mind. However, the more I got into producing the beat with Fredrik Sonefors, the more I wanted to sing this song to show the livelier side of me.
The video is shot in Los Angeles with Lukas Valentin. We had a ball improvising every scene – even the jacuzzi scenes were with a girl who just happened to be there!
“Beat Around The Bush” is just a way for me to cool off during the summer, before I dig down deep again. I hope the fans will join me in soaking up this sunny season. Happy summer from your friend, Timmy.
