He loves me, he loves me not. North Macedonia’s Eye Cue had plenty of hype going into Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon. While the couple failed to qualify for the grand final, their careers have definitely blossomed. In 2019, they have already toured Australia, released the infectious track “Dancin’” and played several shows in London. Our favourite North Macedonian duo aren’t stopping there — they have now released their new single “Love Me, Hate Me”.

“Love Me, Hate Me” — Eye Cue

“Love Me, Hate Me” explores the intricacies of a relationship. Marija sings “love me, hate me, I can’t tell the difference”. She declares “it’s all the same”. She then asks “are you crazy or am I insane”, cleverly blurring lines and poetically describing how love feels.

The song follows the style they laid out in “Dancin'”. This is easy listening but far from disposable — Marija and Bojan only need a few words to tell a story. Therein lies the strength of their songwriting as they delicately paint a picture across three and a half minutes.

In a press release, Eye Cue said:

“For their new single “Love Me Hate Me”, you can say that it’s a variety of influences but yet their musical trademark stands out firmly as a unique organic sound among the generation of generic music. On this song they chose to collaborate with the London based producer J.AR.J and it seems like he easily added up to the passionate groove of the tune.”

Eye Cue are certainly no longer lost. They have found their place in the music industry and have planned to release more music in 2019. They’re even selling Marija’s dress!

The song isnt too bad, but nothing special. Unfortunately not many people care that much about them. This is proven by the lack of comments. Hope they have a career good enough to support them financially.

Well, I wanted to love you but then you had to go and murder your beautiful song on the Eurovision stage. Still love the song, tho.
