She’s been drip-feeding us new music for the past few months. And with her new album Hilda out in October, fans of Jessica Mauboy still have a lot to be excited about. Last Friday, the Australian star kept the new music coming and released another new track from the LP, titled “Just Like You”.
The Eurovision 2018 contestant’s previous song “Little Things” climbed up the Australian charts, and is already becoming her biggest streaming hit since 2017’s “Fallin'”.
And Jessica is well aware of the acclaim her latest songs are receiving. As a way to thank her fans for their immense response to her new music, she’s dropped “Just Like You”.
Following the release of “Sunday”, “Little Things” and “Blessing”, this marks the fourth pre-release from her new album. Her first solo album in six years, Hilda will consist of 14 tracks in total.
“Just Like You” fits in well with the other songs released so far. In fact, it’s another piano-driven song that puts emphasis on her voice. But unlike “Blessing”, where Mauboy dealt with a relationship that didn’t turn out so well, she’s bringing positive vibes across on this track.
Lyrically, it shares a personal experience Mauboy had with someone whose actions assured her that “love is true”. And that love seems to have lasted for good, as she sings: “I found someone that I can hold on to”. Jessica is definitely in a good place now, and whoever she’s singing about helped her get where she stands today.

With four tracks revealed so far, Hilda is clearly her most sincere and personal effort yet. It touches upon topics Jessica was more hesitant to talk about in the past. And above all, it really makes her voice shine unlike ever before!
It’s clear that we’re not the only ones who think so. Commenting underneath Jessica’s Instagram post, Eurovision 2016 contestant Dami Im wrote “Loving all the songs so far Jess! ❤️”. Who knows, maybe we’ll get a collaboration from the two Australian power vocalists at some point in the future. But until then, we can’t wait for Jessica’s new album, which drops October 18th.

I can’t stop listening to “Little Things”. It is beautifully heartbreaking. And I can’t tell you the last time I enjoyed a video as much =- although it would have been better if her mascara ran at some point.
