In the past couple of months he’s had a packed schedule that has taken him all over the world. And now Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence is taking his final steps before dropping new music. The singer shared the latest developments in an interview with Arjan Writes — the head of pop at Apple Music  — on the A-List Pop radio programme.

Not long ago he dropped the acoustic version of his song “Arcade”. But there’s more coming up really soon. In fact, he’s been collecting songs during his recent songwriting sessions in Los Angeles. Putting together stories that he wants to tell the world does take some time. But there’s no need to worry, as his recent journey has done much to stir those creative juices.

Duncan also revealed that he still needs to decide on what song he wants to let out first. He admits that he’s potentially overthinking the process but will hopefully make up his mind by the end of the month.

Back to where it all started

During the interview, Arjan — who’s also Dutch — referred to Duncan’s very first live performance of “Arcade” on the Dutch TV show De Wereld Draait Door. Duncan says that he wanted to do an acoustic version to shape a better first reaction to the song, as some of the atmosphere the song builds on might get lost by TV production.

And what about Eurovision? Duncan said that he was the most nervous during the final voting sequence. But thanks to the support of the team surrounding him he was able to feel pretty comfortable throughout his time in Tel Aviv.

As of now he’s fully enjoying what he’s dreamed of for so long — creating music and releasing it for the world to hear.

What do you think about Duncan’s journey looking back at it now? Do you still feel the same way about “Arcade” as you did the first time that you heard it? And are you excited to hear new music from the Eurovision winner? Tell us your thoughts below!
