Her endearing Spanish accent and funky vocals won over countless new fans across Europe during Eurovision 2016. And Barei has stayed in our hearts ever since she unveiled “Say Yay Yay Yay”. Now we have another reason to love the mother-of-two. She has teamed up with Argentinian-Spanish popstar Chenoa on the new track “Las Chicas Buenas” (The Good Girls).
Barei gave fans a week’s notice on her Facebook page. She announced the title of the song and invited us all to pre-save it to our Spotify libraries (which we did instantly). Chenoa also made sure everyone was aware of the planned release. And three days later another teaser arrived on Barei’s Facebook page.

The post included a line from the song (sung by Chenoa): “Hot girls lend clothes” — to which Barei replied “and what else?” The singers also showed off their figures in the video, wearing seductive clothing hinting at the vibe of the song. It’s called owning it.

The song finally premiered on Chenoa’s official YouTube channel on Friday, along with a music video. The song gives us Latin late summer vibes, and the music video that accompanies it oozes sex appeal.

Starting off with a calm Spanish guitar strumming, the song grows in intensity, serving non-stop fire and heat. The two voices alternate every verse and compliment each other really well. The chorus is fun and makes us want to dance, and a catchy drop and playful lyrics ooze joy. Eventually the song fades away and leaves us wanting more, but then again, that’s just what the replay button’s for!

The music video shows both singers in dressing rooms, trying out different looks and having a great time. As the singers “prepare” in the background and pass different clothes to one another, a man appears to be waiting for them to get ready. We’re never told who the man is, and it looks as though the two are dressed to impress, perhaps ready to fight over him. The final scene shows two different pictures of him kissing both Barei and Chenoa. Lucky man indeed!

Did you like the new song? How do you feel about this dynamic duo?

Random fact: Chenoa was a backing singer for Rosa López in Tallinn 2002.

Well, the meaning behind the song is that it is fine to share a boy “two are not too much”, they say. They even “like” each other and this can be clearly seen when Chenoa states that she goes crazy (in a good sense) when Barei kiss the boy. The chorus “Las chicas buenas se prestan la ropa” means “Good girls exchange clothes”, a metaphor for the girls sharing the boy. As for the song, I don’t know if it aims to normalize bisexuality, polyamory or threesomes, but is kind of enjoyable and catchy, Though it still sounds a bit… Read more »

Wonder what would be reaction if guys were singing about “sharing a girl”. There’s your message. “Men and women are equal, except women are better”, like in Toy
