The forthcoming Netflix film Eurovision has already caught the attention of ESC fans worldwide, months before its release. As details slowly drip out, the hype and the expectations surrounding the movie keeps on growing. On Tuesday The Scotsman revealed some new info: It will include scenes shot and filmed in Edinburgh!

Filming in the Scottish capital will commence next week. The BBC reported that the filming locations within Edinburgh will include the Old Town, New Town and Newhaven.

Consequently, Edinburgh Council coalition leader Cammy Day took pride in the city’s achievement. He said:

“It is a source of real pride that Edinburgh attracts these kinds of projects and it’s very exciting to welcome the latest project from Netflix to the city next week. We welcome filming for the economic benefit, employment opportunities and the on-screen promotion it brings.”

It seems Film Edinburgh is just as delighted. Film Commissioner Rosie Ellison said the film is “a great opportunity to show the city to the world”. She also added the that film could interest Eurovision and cinema fans alike: “It allows us to once again demonstrate our film-friendly credentials to the global film industry.”

More about the film

Just in case you’re out of the loop, cast members so far include Demi Lovato, Will Ferrell, Pierce Brosnan…and reportedly…Israel’s Netta. At the moment there’s no official release date, though it’d make sense for the film to come out just ahead of Eurovision 2020. Ride the wave of hype, right?

What do you think of the chosen locations for the film? Where in Edinburgh would you like them to film? Let us know down below!

Totally of topic, but I hope that Wiwibloggs will read this: Rotterdam has found financial support via redirecting budget (see source 1: NOS below). Via this way, Rotterdam doesn’t want poverty- or security policies to be harmed.

Also: Duncan Laurence is single again. Yep, he’s on the market again! 😀 (source 2; RTL Nieuws) He said he and his lover felt more like friends than lovers.
