Two acts already and it’s only October? Oh, we are being spoiled! Both Belgium and Spain have confirmed the artists who will be travelling to Rotterdam in May, but before then, we want to know which act you are most looking forward to. It’s time for a Wiwi Poll!

Eurovision 2020 confirmed acts (as of 6 October 2019)

Belgium: Hooverphonic

Flemish broadcaster VRT wasted no time in announcing the act they’ll be sending up the road in May. Hooverphonic are an internally successful trip-hop group who have been active for almost 25 years. They’ve recently teamed up with recent The Voice van Vlaanderen winner Luka Cruysberghs who brings a new energy as their vocalist. The group expect to release their song for Eurovision in February.

Spain: Blas Cantó

Spanish broadcaster RTVE surprised fans by suddenly revealing Blas Cantó as their act for Rotterdam. The singer has had two previous attempts at Eurovision — in 2004 for Junior Eurovision, and in 2011 as part of the boy band Auryn. The accomplished Spanish singer will finally get his chance in May. Blas is expected to release his song sometime in 2020.

Which Eurovision 2020 act are you most looking forward to?

Once you’ve checked out the acts above, vote for your favourite in our poll. Remember, you can only vote once — so make it count!

i prefer Hooverphonic more, but hope handsome Blas will bring us a real BOP, i so want Spain to do well, they deserve it :))

off topic/ where these rumors about famous queer band Kazaky submit for Vidbir2020 come from? i read it on youtube and twitter a lot, someone knows anything? if its true, it would be fantastic, these guys are real dance gods on the heels… their sexiness and sensual openness on the stage are mind-blowing….. swoon 😛

As i know its more speculations for now, though these rumors going on for long long time, its escalated after Kazaky came back in showbiz (after long break) and realized their latest clip ‘push’ dedicated to LGBTQ people in Ukraine, fans beg them to go to Eurovision next year, so we will see 😉

Kazaky is a living freaking legend!
If they participate in Vidbir no one stand a chance, and top 5 in Rotterdam is very likely for Ukraine if they send them
Ironically how guys became famouse in USA after their stunning colab with Madonna lol

I hope Hooverphonic brings something like “Romantic”, Blas Cantó has a very nice voice so anything that makes it stand out is good.

I always put my hopes in Belgium (lets forget about last year). I have strange feeling that Blas will end up as a cute face, nothing else. I’d like to be wrong though

I guess possible. Although it depends on whether her name is at EMA 2020 or not.

I’m hyping because we’read starting to get big news about artists, but, no offence, not because of them specifically. I mean, they sound good, but I’m not that much into both ambient pop and Spanish music in general, even when I am Spanish. Probably will be more excited as my usual favourites (Italy, Albania, Norway and The Balkans) start to announce things.

The real answer is all of them (even the ones not announced).

hope so tbh the last amazing entry of Romania was way back in 2010, all other were meh… They are one of the countries that would be much better off with an internal selection

Romania has really gone downhill at Eurovision recently. They should internally select INNA, they could win outright!

yeah or someone established at least, they have huge music industry, but tbh I think esc is really not popular there, I think only like 3% watched the final this year, probably the lowest percentage in whole Europe..

Hooverphonic for me. They seem more edgier and unique (plus, I like their music more). Blas Cantó seems a good choice, however there is only one song I really like of his, all the others don’t really stand out for me.

Anyway, we’ll have to wait and see for the song releases!

Spain, because I expect Belgium to deliver this year. Question is, can Spain break the curse of bad results.

Hooverphonic looks more promising! I’ve listened to their songs and they are almost all high quality. My favourites are Eden, Anger Never Dies (which was very famous here in Italy) and Looking for stars!

Both are great and both are exactly what the country needed to send to Eurovision for a loooooong time, but Hooverphonic has the edge for me, they are so interesting!

Belgium (VRT) is early once again, but chose a very big act straightforwardly. Spain (RTVE), on the other hand, was never this early to announce their artist, and also brought a big name to the table. We’re off to a great start.

Now that the pace has escalated quickly, would it be funny if Ireland (RTÉ), Greece (ERT) or even Netherlands (NPO) announce their performers in October or November?

Hooverphonic will bring something a bit different to the ESC stage. I am imagining something along the lines of ‘She Got Me’ from Blas Canto.

This poll is a bit of non sense to me. Both acts are very promising in a very different way. It’s rare that we start the year with a band that is legendary and contemporary at the same time (Belgium) and a singer who has recently been #1 in their country (and Spain is not an easy country to be number one in). I’m sure both of them will bring their A game to the compentition: Hooverphonich as a reputation to keep and they always produce high quality songs! and the stakes are not less high for Blas, he has… Read more »

Both are great starts for the eurovision season in their own way. Next country to announce something will probably be albania and they always have a hit or miss situation. If they send something good we’re off to a perfect start 🙂

Hooverphonic, definitely. Their songs are way more unique than Blas Cantó’s typical Spanish singer-songwritery songs. He might surprise us, but for now I’m most looking forward to Hooverphonic
