Our favourite cross-Atlantic Finnish superstar Saara Aalto is no stranger to the winter chill, both in her homeland and since skating up a storm in her adopted UK. She’ll be looking to celebrate winter by releasing a new festive collection of songs, including one penned by international pop superstar Kylie Minogue.
Aalto revealed she will release her new EP, titled “Fairytale”, on November 29. The collection of Christmas music will feature the Minogue-written “Every Christmas Day”, which she performed a snippet of to UK’s The Sun. She told the publication:
“To have a song written by one of my idols is just breathtaking. Kylie & I first met at the X Factor finals where we performed together and she was so incredibly lovely. A real superstar.”

Thank you so much @danwootton @talkradiouk & @thesun for announcing my big news? @kylieminogue has written a Christmas single for me & I’m so excited for you to hear this little clip? It will be the next single taken from my International EP ’Fairytale’ released Nov 29th? #SaaraAalto #KylieMinogue #Kylie #Fairytale #Christmas
Saara has been on a snowy song-release streak, most recently releasing the winter ballad “Starry Skies”. She wrote the song alongside David Sneddon, who has written songs for Lewis Capaldi and Lana Del Rey, among others.
It’s simply a classic Saara track – beautiful, intimate, raw and emotional. Featuring a stripped back guitar intro, Saara sings about her first love, all while freezing in -28 degree weather in her homeland. It’s a love story, delivered in a typically frozen and uniquely Aalto way.

The EP and new single closes off a busy year for Saara, having finished third on UK’s Dancing on Ice, while her song “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching” was selected as the official song for Pride In London 2019.
