As co-hosts of a song contest that requires months of practice, Assi Azar and Bar Refaeli have spent a lot of time together over the past year. And when you spend this much time with someone, you just might grow to hate them. While that’s (hopefully) not the case with the two Israelis, they have poked fun at this scenario in a new eyewear commercial.

Bar Refaeli has been a brand ambassador for the Israeli eyewear company Carolina Lemke Berlin since 2013. She owns 5% of the company and has appeared in countless campaigns for them. Five months after hosting ESC 2019 alongside Assi Azar, she’s teamed up with him in a hilarious ad for the company.

Titled “Everything is clear now”, the ad features the two walking around an eyeglass factory. Azar and Refaeli alternate between trying on different glasses and fantasising about murdering each other. The bizarre commercial shows the duo executing each other in creative ways within the factory. You can watch the video here.

At first, Bar and Assi enter the eyewear factory on friendly terms, with Bar greeting Assi and telling him she’s happy to see him. But the story goes very wrong very fast, as she propels him into the air, slamming him against a wall. We then quickly shift back to the two strolling around the factory. Assi is seen releasing Bar into a room full of moving robotic arms. Then we shift back to reality.

The story repeats itself again, as Bar asks Assi why they even fought in the first place, and then drowns him in a pool of water. While asphyxiating, Assi screams: “Rotem rules!”, referencing his Next Star for Eurovision co-host. After going back to reality, Assi compliments Bar’s looks, saying: “Anything would look good on you.” Before adding: “Even a wall!”. He then violently crushes her to death using a bulldozer. The ad is intended to promote the company’s PRO OPTIC eyeglasses, hinting that they “help see the truth”.

What did you think of the commercial? Hilarious or just morbid? Which cause of death was your favourite? Share your opinions in the comment section below!

The animosity between Bar and Assi has deeper roots than just spending too much time together. Those two used to be inseparable BFFs, and when Assi wrote his romantic-comedy TV series, “Beauty and the Baker”, The leading female role was inspired by and intended for Bar. When Bar ditched the project at the very last moment, citing “scheduling conflicts”, Assi felt hurt and betrayed. He said in an interview that though in retrospect he realizes that’s the best thing that could have happened, because the show became a big hit in Israel and around the world and also brought Rotem… Read more »
