At Eurovision 2019 she sought to empower anyone who has ever been told to sit down. And now jury vote winner Tamara Todevska has turned her mind to the theme of love in her latest stunner “Monsters”.

The Macedonian singer worked with the same team behind her Eurovision hit. The title hints at something scary and powerful. Indeed, those demons are about love and what happens when it goes away. As Tamara wrote on Instagram:

“‘Monsters’ is a song about love. The kind of love that makes you go crazy. The kind of love that pushes all your buttons. The kind of love you cannot live without.”

“Monsters” escapes the clichés and platitudes of so many songs about love. Rather than taking us on a journey through euphoria, Tamara takes us somewhere darker and therefore more real. Her babe has left her and it’s cutting deep. He’s left her with the titular demons she sings about.

Paralyzed
Hypnotized
You’re my nervous breakdown
Butterflies
Bitter lies
Who’s gonna cry for me now?

Tamara Todevska’s new album

The success of Tamara’s song “Proud” could intimidate many who might worry about achieving that kind of success again. But not Tamara. She’s leveraged all the goodwill and positivity to take her career higher.

“Performing ‘Proud’ at Eurovision was definitely one of the biggest highlights of my professional career,” she told Wiwibloggs in an exclusive interview. “I think we achieved our goal – to spread the message of equality, the message of accepting yourself and being proud of who you are, just the way you are.”

“The success of ‘Proud’ at Eurovision did not intimidate me in any way. On the contrary, it gave me the energy and the inspiration to further explore my artistic personality and take my whole music artistry on another level. I think after Eurovision a new Tamara was born – maybe a more confident one and more determined.”

And with that confidence and determination she’s moving full speed ahead. She’s spent her time since Eurovision working on new music. She’s been fruitful and her main task now is to narrow and refine the songs that will make it onto her upcoming album.

“I have been working on my album for 5 months now with the same team that worked on ‘Proud’. There is such a great energy around the team. Darko, Robert and Laze are truly magicians and Kosta always knows how to write the right lyrics.”

“We have recorded over 30 songs and now we are in the process of cutting to 12 songs which is really a hard thing to do, taking into consideration that I am emotionally attached with all the songs I recorded. This is actually the part that takes most of my time. But as I said, it is all about team work so at the end we will make the decision together. I know what my next single is going to be.”

“Monsters” lyrics — Tamara Todevska

Paralyzed
Hypnotized
You’re my nervous breakdown
Butterflies
Bitter lies
Who’s gonna cry for me now?
Gotta go
Gotta stay
Do I really care now?
Is this what they call real love?

All my demons babe
They sound and look like you
All my nightmares babe
They start and end with you
All the monsters babe
That hid under my bed
They all want you back
and miss you since you left

Paralyzed
Hypnotized
You are my mental breakdown
Butterflies
Bitter lies
Who’s gonna cry for me now?
Fireflies
Sunny skies
Do I stay or leave now?
You’re my freedom and love

All my demons babe
They sound and look like you
All my nightmares babe
They start and end with you
All the monsters babe
That hid under my bed
They all want you back
and miss you since you left

It’s a good song- would have been a decent ESC song but Proud fit the competition better.
