New Year’s Eve is a time of reflection; a day to look back with fondness on the achievements of the past year and decade. For Eurovision fans, this day of reflection is primarily centred around ESC250 2019 – the poll where fans pick their favourite 250 entries from the contest’s history.

The big question of the day was whether Eurovision 2012 champion Loreen will once again hold onto the top spot. Her song “Euphoria” has come out on top of the countdown for the past seven years – that’s also known as ‘every single year since Loreen won Eurovision’. The mystery was answered with a resounding yes, as Loreen made it eight consecutive years and finished the decade as the reigning queen of Eurovision.

Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence clocked in at second, just ahead of last year’s runner-up Eleni Foureira. “Arcade” fared better in the countdown than “Toy” did last year — the Israeli winning song debuted at 23 and has since dropped down to 46.

Voting for the ESC250 2019 countdown took place earlier this month, with a record number of votes being cast. The full results were revealed by ESC Radio and Songfestival.be throughout the day.

No. The whole purpose is to find the most popular, if that’s Euphoria, so be it.

If you want to have other number one song than “Euphoria”, bring it to ESC 🙂 , because since then there was nothing even pretending to take it down from the throne.

“Euphoria” which in my opinion is most complete act of modern ESC (song, performance, performer, attitude, pottential, production, innovation, freshness, surprise… etc.) will rule until another one like this will appear… and I wish that to us all some day… maybe even in 2020 😉

I checked this list like 10 times and no WHY-AY-AY lady?!?!?! These results are probably fake, I refuse to believe, that people are so tasteless to not rate this gem.

I am loving Hatari and KEiiNO’s positions on here – well deserved! Bit disappointed that Eliot didn’t make it as that was a great song too.

I cannot be the only one who thinks Euphoria is really overrated ? I respect how it had an immensely positive effect on the contest’s reputation but still, I don’t think it’s that good.

Just my opinion, guys!

So yeah… Tamta top 50 and Keiino 5th. I mean, talking about overrated songs. We guys have definitely a very different taste to say the least. My 2019 top 10 (from 2005) would be: 1. Belgium 2017 – Blanche – City Lights 2. The Netherlands 2019 – Duncan Laurence – Arcade 3. Germany 2018 – Michael Schulte – You Let Me Walk Alone 4. North Macedonia 2017 – Jana Bur?eska – Dance Alone 5. France 2016 – Amir – J’ai cherché 6. Norway 2015 – Mørland & Debrah Scarlett – A monster like me 7. France 2009 – Patricia Kaas… Read more »

Wow… Nice to see Portugal as the 4th most represented nation in this poll, as their entries are generally underappreciated and underrated at Eurovision.

Pretty predictable at the top… The most interesting and welcome thing, for me, is seeing the iconic Silvía Night at #106. One of my best Eurovision guilty pleasures. I’ll never forget this Eurovision moment, following her semi-final performance:

Silvía Night: “I love you my European children.”
Audience: *boos*
Silvía Night: “I love you Europe. Thank you for loving me!”
Audience: *boos*
Silvía Night: *strikes a pose*

I feel like songs from the current year should be excluded for that year vote it is difficult to judge favourite songs that are more recently in our heads. It gives them an unfair advantage (especially for fan favourites and winners)! For example, Switzerland 2018 was lower than both Montenegro 2018 and Spain 2018 last year…but it is the only one of the three that has remained in the list (which to me suggests it has a longer term impact).

Fuego in top 3? It’s getting old by now… and when we re talking old I oersonaly think Euphoria doesn’t deserve it’s first place which it’s holding only based on popularity… all and all euphoria and fuego down… song like nocturne 1944 and amar pelois dois up! (Also in my opinion duncan should ve got the first place)

Wow Soldi and Spirit in the sky are gonna be in the top 6. They were my top 2 this year!!! Also call me crazy but for some reason I think Euphoria will not win this year!

So it is either Arcade or Euphoria. Perhaps I was wrong!

May I just say that I love seeing your comments all around this post, all your passion and interest 🙂
And yea, Secret Garden deserve the top 10!
So glad to see 1944 still in the top 10
Can’t wait to see the top 3

You as well! And thank goodness, they held it at exactly the same place they held it last year. Top ten, where they belong.

So we know for sure at least three songs from this year made the top 20, possibly more, considering three of last year’s top twenty have already taken a dip. (Arcade, Soldi, and one more…probably Norway? Iceland too, maybe.)

I just had a crazy thought. I was thinking if any 2019 song could top Euphoria, it’d be one of the top two…but can you even imagine if somehow, Hatari snatched the top spot? How insane would that be?

I think the trolls would push it over the edge, at least. I’m positive a number of people probably had that on their lists out of genuine enjoyment, but it’s also grade-A troll bait, and plenty of them probably gave it a vote.

Pretty impressive that Kruna and Telemoveis debuted so high. I expected them to show up, but not necessarily in the top 30 (and I expected She Got Me to do better than either of them).

“Rapsodia” in top 50 is a surprise, but a very welcome one.

It’s a great one! If only their entries from 1990 and 1992 had that kind of luck.

This has been disappointingly normal. Not counting the 2019 entries (which I’m expecting are gonna come fast and furious soon enough) only two songs weren’t in last years top 100 as well.

The top 100 has been kind of normal so far. I’m bracing myself for a novelty song punching significantly above its weight. Possibly more than one. (Look, I’ll cop to voting for “Shir Habatlanim,” so blame me if my legit love for that song actually gets it into the top 100.)

People keep calling that a troll vote, but with a televote score like it got, I don’t know. I feel like there’s a lot of genuine, if disproportionate, love for that song. (I think it’s fine.)

Every year it gets a vast amount of 12pts, then few small scores lol.

That’s a great song and an even better performance, a bit like a Eurovision rip-off of “The Blues Brothers”.

If I had to have a guess at which Eurovision performance I’ve watched the most times and have never gotten tired of, that’d be the one. It’s just perfect.

Eimear Quinn still in the top 100, where she belongs. Surprising but nice leap up a couple hundred spots for NOX from Hungary. Not the 2005 entry I’d like to see make a comeback the most (Serbia and Montenegro, Switzerland, or Denmark for me), but I’m guessing more from that year are on the way (Israel and Greece, if they haven’t shown up yet, are probably going to notch a spot in the top 100).

Scream only at #100! Could’ve sworn the legions of Sergey fans would’ve sent that one to the top 50 at least. Oh well. You Are the Only One is probably still in for, as in the contest, a better finish than it really deserves.
